Midwest Airlines Midwest Miles - Couple of Qs on the Executive status.

Can one attain YX Executive status by primarily flying NW?
If allowed, the BIS miles on a single trip to SIN on NW would yield almost be enough to qualify as an 'Executive,' correct? Do class of service bonus EQMs go toward ME qualifying miles?

Why would I want to do that? Hmm.. Good question, since I only fly YX once or twice a year. just got bored with having more miles than I need on NW/DL and don't want the bozo's in Atlanta to have custody of any more miles than they need to from me (I know they roll over but that's not the point).

Also, on a < 500 miles segments, 500 miles credit or actual miles go towards ME qual? I do fly ATW-MKE once a while but haven't paid close attention to it since I had no desire or ability (purely based on YX flying) to make ME.

Thanks in advance.

I , frankly, have not seen the benefits of MME. There are only a couple worth it, in my opinion. The one way award ticket and the ....well that's it I guess. You get no upgrades, per se, and the 25-K regular reward is good, but I find availability to be almost nil--at least where I fly.

Have you ever used the YXExtra award where 40,000 miles gets you a free seat even when no free seats are available? Combine that with the once-per-year redemption discount (save 10,000 miles on awards costing 40,000 or more, 5,000 miles on anything less) and once per year you can get a free seat on any flight for 30,000 miles.

The things I like most from MME:

--Waived first bag fee
--Exit row pre-selection
--Free standby coupons
--The YXExtra award I mentioned above
--50% mile earning bonus

What I don't really use much

--Elite security lines (I feel kine of snobbish using them unless I'm in danger of missing the flight)
--Dedicated MME number (Again, I feel kind of dirty budging in line in front of others who are already in queue, but I occasonally have used it in a pinch)
--Early boarding (ditto)

What I really wish they would add:

--Complementary space-available upgrades, or at least coupons for a limited number of free upgrades.
--Online redemption of all Midwest award types (including companion)
--Reciprocity with Frontier and Delta programs for elite benefits on that airline when you're elite on YX

You can definitely earn MME status by flying only on NW.

However, Midwest definitely won't credit you with biz class bonus or any sort of plantinum bonus from NW/DL based on your elite membership there. So if a trip is 10,000 miles, but you should get 15,000 bonus based on class of service and your NW FF status, the only way you'd get the 25,000 miles is if NW passes 25,000 miles to Midwest. They may or may not...I'm not sure. But whatever YX gets they'll post, and no more.

I wish I could be more certain on what NW/DL will pass.

Midwest definitely counts the full 500 miles toward Executive status. If not, I'd never get anywhere because so much of my flying is <500.

Does Midwest still provide MME members with complimentary passes to The Best Care Club? I thought at one time Midwest included a couple of free passes in the membership packets.

I get them now and again...perhaps a few per year. I don't use them, however, since I like being out in the concourse watching what's going on.

On a related note, does anybody remember seeing somethiing about Delta Sky Room members getting access to the BCC? I thought I recalled seeing something recently (like in an e-mail communication) but I can't seem to find it. Anyone remember?

This may help somewhat:

Northwest lounge members definately had access to the BCC. FRom the press release link above, it seems as if this access has been expanded to Delta members as well.

Yes, Delta members still have BCC access. This listing details the Milwaukee location, but it's funny how generically it's listed. Doesn't even mention Midwest or the Best Care Club at all, but the location is correct.

No, I have not used that feature because I credit my miles to NW. I have 26-K and can not burn them for the life of me.

I also never check a bag, always seem to be able to snag the exit row, never needed to do the standby thing, and the extra means little unless I am fully invested in YX travel.

I do use the things you don't. (snob at heart!) and would love to have what you listed they should add.

As a Skyclub member, I use the BCC often when on YX. At times, the only people in there were Skyclub members! And it is not recipriocal, I understand. BCC members can not go into Skyclubs for free.

OK, I'm probably going to earn dingbat-status on Flyertalk for asking this, but Delta Skyclub members can use the BCC? I was at MKE last weekend for a flight and didn't even think to try to get into the BCC. I thought only the old NW Worldclub members could get in, but the benefit hadn't yet been extended to Delta members.

Based on the Delta.com link that I posted above, it looks like Delta members now have access. Doesn't hurt to stop by and ask!

Yes they do. I use it all the time. NW. DL. Doesn't matter. My fellow DL members are in there from time to time.

Thank you for the info; glad to know I can get into the BCC with my Skyclub membership.
