Air France Frequence Plus - AF 777W Seating Question
I apologize in advance if this has already been discussed, but a search of this forum did not provide an answer to my question. I am flying from IAD to CDG on a 77W, currently have seats 19 AB. A twosome (31 KL) is available; is the seat pitch the same as all other economy seats? Seems like a no-brainer for a pair if there are no drawbacks to these seats. Any experience with these seats would be much appreciated.
I see nobody has answered your question yet.
I am afraid users of this board may not be the best to answer it as most of us fly frequently: either in Business and First (and therefore don’t know the details of eco seats), or in Eco (it is my case most of the time).
In this case, and for the majority of us, we try to avoid like the plague the AF 77W with their 10-abreast seating (renamed as “sardine can”).
So experience in the advantages and drawbacks of the different seats may be limited here (I flew twice in the front rows of AF 77W Eco cabin, and decided “never again”).

You should maybe have a look to Seat Guru.
Since i am not sure which type of 777 is 777W, i found those 2

this could be a good deal, however having snack area just close to you might be annoying.

i would probably avoid this one
77W is 773ER, which means all 773 in AF fleet.
What Seatguru calls Version 1 does not exist any more in the AF fleet: all planes have been modified to add a seat per row in the Eco cabin, and are now 10 abreast.
Version 2, is dedicated to CIO (Caribean Indian Ocean) routes.
Version 3 is dedicated for "high yielding" routes, since they have a First class cabin.
So if you fly AF in Eco on a "High Yielding" route, you end with the lowest possible level of comfort on an AF long haul plane.
:td:
IAD to CDG?
I fly this route often (and in Eco - company travel policy obliges) it is normally either a 772 (first and third flight of the day) or an A340 (second flight o fthe day).
The 772 is (thankfully) 3-3-3 an not the dreaded 3-4-3, best choice depends on how full the plane is if not too full, ask them for an aisle and Window and have them block the middle seat (at worst you can swap with the middle seat person which will be a nice surprise for them).
Otherwise the two seats at the bvack are OK except that people can tend to congregate as it's by the toilets.
By far the best solution is to try to get on AF25 which is the Airbus A340 flight - but it's not every day.
Thank you for the replies. I had already consulted seat guru, which did not indicate that there was limited recline 31KL on version 3 of the 77W...but the proximity to the snack area would be bothersome. Guess I will stick with 19 AB for right now. I am on the 4:40 PM flight (AF 39) and the equipment is listed as a 77W, and the seatmap matches seatguru...my flight is not until next year though, so could be a schedule/equipment change. Would you suggest the 772 over the 77W in economy? There is a 10PM flight with that equipment.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As TGV said, at least until they make the 772 just as bad, anything is bette than the 77W.

Any idea when the 772 will begin conversion to 10 across?

Normally when the Premium Voyageur is installed.
So if the flight you want to take with a 772 has Premium Voyageur, and you are travelling Normal Eco, take another flight !
