You're sure it's a 340? Swiss has 333 listed on the website.
Also, St Gellen seems to be HB-JHD...

SwissHON must have had a glass of hard liquor too much in the FCL before boarding his plane :D ;). Today's aircraft to ORD (LX8) was an A333 (HB-JHD) and not an A340...

IIRC, Swiss announced via the global screens last week on board of my flight (LAX-ZRH), that ORD will be served by the new A330-300 for a couple weeks.

hey SOG you flew LX instead of your beloved LH?? Congratulations:) you must admit that this was a good decision and that LX is better, assuming that you were in your usual COS upfront.
Cheers from ZRH, on the way for drinks with Rambuster in LHR

Wait a moment, it is not my beloved LH but my most convenient choice, since I'm FRA based. LX had a good pricing ex MXP however in A, so my wife and I decided to give it a try.

Overall, I would not rate LX better than LH. Both airlines are good in F with each having some advantages and disadvantages.

LX offered a very nice and friendly service and we liked the huge table and the ottoman for lunch/dinner. The appetizers were great, in particular the salmon. Bread with olive oil is another nice thing. But I was disappointed about the wines (tried small portions of all reds and one white and gave up) and about the main courses. The selection was a little bit one sided (e.g. grilled meat 1, grilled meat 2 and pan prepared seafood).

The PJ is too warm, in particular with the bad sheet and blanket. I do like the LH PJ and their blankets more. The LX amenity kit is great and definitely tops LH.

The seat was comfortable, but not as much more as the LH seat is. I understand, the privacy is better (which seems to be the main issue for some). But when travelling with a companion, like my wife in this case, it was really difficult to have a conversation. We had the middle seats and you sit about 3 feet away from the other. You can only chat, when you lean towards the middle armrests, given the noise in the cabin.

What I criticize most is having only one lavatory in the front. This one lav was not only for the 8 pax and the flight crew and the 2 FAs in front. It seemd to be VERY popular for the entire cabin crew. It is not F, when you want to use the lavatory and wait in a line for 15 minutes or so.

As said, overall a good experience, but so is LH as well. Given we could save a huge amount of €€€ it was worth it to take the extra time via MXP and ZRH. But without that saving I would always take the direct flight in order to spend less time in the air (or in lounges).

Have a nice trip to LHR. Say HI to rambuster, please.
