I am flying SIN-DEL-BLR-SIN:

(1) SIN-DEL is Air India, aircraft A319. I can't find a seat map anywhere, especially SeatGuru, SeatExpert, etc. Anybody have advice on good economy rows? This is daytime flight 10:15AM-1:30PM.

(2) DEL-BLR is IC, let's forget about them. :) I'll deal with wherever they put me.

(3) BLR-SIN is an SQ-operated flight, but with AI codeshare. I haven't researched the aircraft yet, but if you have the experience, do you ask AI or SQ about the seats?

Thanks.

Thanks.1 + 2 are old IC routes, and evidently they are using IC aircraft, as AI never had A319's. Probably a domestic biz configuration.

BLR-SIN will probably be a 777 - no idea which one - I think they run 2 flights ex-BLR daily, but this has probably been reduced substantially.

IC A-319 aircrafts are being operated on this sector. Though there is no seat map available for AI, i think the mentioned loop may be of useful to you (bcos of the similar configuration in other airlines)

It should be the same type of aircrafts mentioned above ( 2 class A-319) operating on the Del-Blr sector.

SQ operates a daily flight on that sector with B-772 aircrafts and you need to contact SQ for seat requests.

A-320: Thanks. I appreciate the detailed info.

Air India was able to assign me a seat on their own SIN-DEL flight. (Their seat configuration is different from others using the same aircraft. Basically rows 3-15 for Y, 3+3 across in each row, and one seat 9-D missing.)

AI and SQ could not agree on who can/should do it for the codeshare flight AI7202/SQ503. The only clarity I have is that SQ will be able to do it during the checkin at the airport!

I have come across this situation before. The codesharing (marketing) carrier throws up its hands saying it is really not our flight. The operating carrier loses interest in you as soon as it hears that you are a codeshare passenger. And the industry has been pushing codeshares as convenient for passengers. :)

are the A319s also used on redeye domestic shorthauls? if so, the seats were (much) more comfortable than on AI 77Ws.

IC's 320s might be old - in some cases a couple of decades old. The 319s on the other hand are brand new.

3. SQ won't preassign seats in economy unless you book through singaporeair.com so you'll have to wait until OLCI opens 48 hours before departure to select your seat.

OLCI on a codeshared ticket where you don't know the SQ PNR? Or even the Amadeus locator? (AI issues a 5 digit PNR internal to its system, on tickets).

You'll just have to stand in line at the airport checkin counter.

Post deleted, as this referred to AI + TG, not SQ.

You don't need a SQ PNR to OLCI. You can check in using a ticket number or passport number plus flight details. Never tried it on a codeshare, but one of those other methods might work.

When I was talking to SQ the agent did mention 48 hour window. No need to OLCI; the seat assignment can be done over the phone. However, she did emphasize that it would be most convenient at the airport. :)
