Greetings all,
I'm headed to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur in a few weeks on a solo vacation. I'll be about a month shy of my 21st birthday at the time of travel and don't want to encounter any problems when trying to check in at the hotel. I've Pricelined the Renaissance in KL, and their website doesn't specify a minimum check-in age. (In fact, I don't think any properties list minimum check-in ages on hotels.com, Travelocity, etc.). I act maturely and look beyond my years. I know the obvious answer is to e-mail the property, but I don't want to raise any red flags if I don't need to. Thoughts? Any experiences with this property?

The age of majority in almost all the world is 18 - you won't have any problems.

As it happens, Singapore is one of those few places where it's legally 21 -- however, I agree that you won't have any problems, especially if you've got a credit card. (Do you?)

Ah - I hadn't noticed that. But I do see that they recently reduced the age of Full Contractual Capacity to 18, so there really shouldn't be any problem.

I've had no problem in Singapore or anywhere else in the world and I traveled extensively at the age of 17

I concur with everyone who has said you will have no problems.
As a 19 year old university student, I encountered no problems in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, China, or Japan this past summer with hotels or anything else.
Don't worry about it, and enjoy your trip! :)

Travelled to SG and MY for the first time when I was 19. No problem. They do not care how old you are, but they care how much money you are willing to spend.

i went on a solo trip to KL & Sing a few days after i turned 18.(3 years ago) it was my parents "welcome to independence" trip for me lol. had no problems checking into my hotel in Sing. stayed at a boutique hotel in china town.
the only minor problem i encountered was leaving KL. for whatever reason the customs officer grilled me for a good 5-10 min about what i was doing in MY where i was headed. he was really curious as to why i was traveling solo and why my parents weren't with me even though i was over 18. apparently he didn't believe that the pic in my passport was me since it was issued when i was 12 or 13 years old.
