I was at YVR and it looked like a WS crew had new uniforms, with a dark suit and blue shirt and tie that looked remarkably like AC uniforms! Is imitation the sincerest form of flattery? :D

I was wondering about this too. I was going through YEG last week and thought an AC employee was behind me in line at security, but then saw the westjet logo.

Our new uniform was launched on May 29th. Our new look is black wool suits for women, finally with option of skirt. As well, a blue scarf is worn. Men have black wool slacks and vest, as well as a zip up slightly casual black wool jacket.

Rumour is ties for men are possibly in the works.

This is mostly correct.
The somens scarves have a light blue, dark blue, teal, black and gold in them (i like them)

However, for men there is no tie currently, nor one in the works for the near future.

Here is a copy of the email i received yesterday on this topic actually from a report i submitted months ago on the subject from the Crew Resources Manager

"I know that the tie is also a very hot topic out online. The issue of a tie was definitely considered for inclusion in the male CSA and FA uniforms. The deciding factor was really the impact that it had on the overall presentation of the uniform; we did not want our brand to lose what makes us shine. We are different than the others and we are approachable and yet still informal. This is why our suit jackets were specifically designed for us; all the suit jackets we found were too formal. We also looked at our guests and realized that they don’t wear ties either! When we added the tie to the prototype the impact of the tie on the brand was significant. The overall feeling became much more formal and wasn’t consistent with what our guests were expecting. It also was not what image we wanted to portray. We will re-evaluate this item as our brand evolves, and there may be a point down the road when the time it right!"

So unfortunately the rumor about ties is not true for this point in time, However i am 100% for a tie!

I think Rys Eyton helped pick out the uniforms, with help from Kevin Jenkins!!

I don't see the point of a tie. I think if the fa's have to wear a tie the pilots should have to wear those goofy hats!!!!!
