The current NFAF code is good until the end of 2009 AFAIK. Anybody have any insider info as to whether the code (or something similar) will be good in 2010 as well? Trying to make March break plans.... Thanks!

AndyTLe Sep 15, 09, 10:25 am As mentioned in the NFAF thread, Fairmont has always had a Friends & Family program, albeit in a different form. Who knows what Fairmont will do next year? If the NFAF thread is any indication, it seems to have been a success. But I don't know if that has translated to business success for Fairmont. So only time will tell if it is continued. edmonton2001 Sep 15, 09, 6:39 pm Thats a good anwser. The program will always be around but who knows in what form. The big question will be if they still have the incentive for the staff around. If that stops, there will be alot less support from the staff for every around here from some of the members im sure. but theres always going to be a few of us lurking. have fun. toadman Sep 30, 09, 2:43 pm Thats a good anwser. I would be curious to know how many rooms have been booked under the NFAF promo. Obviously top secret info. But based on visible on-line rates, I would think Fairmont would have problems getting a decent occupancy level. I personally just joined FPC after finding out about the NFAF promo about a month ago. Last time I stayed at a Fairmont was about 10 yrs ago at Lake Louise, Alberta. If hotel occupancy still remains low going into 2010, I'd think that Fairmont would extend the promo. I sure hope they do, as I would look to use the code again for future travel. Otherwise, I'll just continue to stay at SPG, Marriott, and Hilton properties for less than a comparable Fairmont, or even more upscale Fairmont would charge. NFAF was the reason I joined FPC and subsequently stayed enough to gain Platinum status. So obviously NFAF did drive business to Fairmont that otherwise owuld have gone to other hotels. While Farimont won't be my main hotel chain (not enough locations), NFAF has worked and I'll be staying at Fairmonts when/where possible. propofol Oct 1, 09, 5:35 am I overheard several people in Hotel Vancouver Gold lounge discussing the NFAF rate. I got the impression that was the only way they would have splurged for Gold. That's great, as I'm sure Fairmont will 'hook' some of these people to their premium product... babsjvd Oct 3, 09, 9:24 pm I am keeping an eye on this as well. I am heading out to Arizona for a mini vacation and would love to stay at this property. I certainly hope they extend the offer. flyupfront Nov 20, 09, 5:57 am I've been able to book a number of rooms in Q1 2010 using the NFAF code. Would love to stay at the Mayakoba but can't swing it at the normal rates. I booked 15 nights NFAF past March 31st, on Spring Break vacation til April 15th, 2010.. total 21 nights NFAF and 1 night on Winter Sale (for the extra suite upgrade deal) for total of 22 nights. Just checked Mayakoba into May 2010 for fun, and NFAF is definitely available at the Mayakoba.:) In fact, the Signature Casita Suite Upgrade is available between March 4th, 2010 and March 16th, 2010.. hurry.. some of the plats need to jump on this quick and use the suite certs plus low NFAF Fairmont room rate. So obviously reservations can be made past March 31st, 2010. The question is whether the booking needs to be done by March 31st, 2010 for stays into June (as NFAF you can only book 3 months ahead). We need clarification on this! For our personal travels, without NFAF, I do not think 3 weeks b/w Orchid and Kea Lani would have happened, so yes NFAF has created business from us. But then again, we've been to both properties multiple times before. CanuckFlyHigh Feb 10, 10, 9:44 am So obviously reservations can be made past March 31st, 2010. As of right now, the official clarification is that the NFAF promo is on until March 31, 2009. There is no guarantee that reservations past this date will be honored. There is also no word that they will not be honored. I know they probably will honor them (probably best to contact your hotel directly), just updating everyone on the latest *official* word we have heard from Fairmont. The reservations become a legal agreement binding towards Fairmont and the customer. Simply print out and show the hotel what the rate is. I've stayed at 12 different Fairmonts with some 70 stays, and can assure that 'all' my reservations have been honored.. Have you experienced problems with Fairmont not honoring your reservation rate? Has anyone experienced problems with Fairmont regarding rates? I like to know if there are any problems, because Fairmont just assured me my NFAF reservations at two Hawaii properties past March 31st, 2010 is a guaranteed rate that they will honor. This is straight from the Reservations Supervisor, and Shelley at FPC platinum loyalty desk. This is the official word to me from Fairmont. CanuckFlyHigh Feb 10, 10, 11:19 am CFH.. If the hotel has given you the Ok, then you are good to go. All I am stating is that the official word on the NFAF code is that it expires March 31, 2010. I fully expect all reservations will be honored past that, I am just reiterating what the official word from Fairmont is. I'm done with this issue, there are way too many questions every day asking the same thing and it is getting annoying. Ancien Maestro Feb 10, 10, 11:48 am I agree. We are all on the same side here, and a lot of plats (including ourselves) ask these questions because we are wanting to make reservations. I can see why they want clarification, because it affects all of us. We are all on the same team, lets work the system and see what we get. I've tried multiple hotels for NFAF reservations and currently every hotel I've tried is booking into May.. including Mayakoba at a fantastic rate.. and signature casita suite upgrade with the certs b/w May 4th and May 16th (this was a couple days ago).. somebody book it quick and score. Hotels have published their NFAF rate plans farther out than 90 days, but as a general matter they do not. nmenaker Feb 24, 10, 8:21 am I think we'll get some form or OFFICIAL extension in the next 30 days. With the economy continuing as it is, and the hospitality industry not seeing any recovery I think hotels will continue with what/if anything is working. They might tweak it and hotels will certainly adjust it for pricing, traffic, etc., but we'll get extensions from the current participants. My opinion only. No, you can not use upgrade cert's to upgrade to GOLD. Ancien Maestro Feb 24, 10, 9:48 pm Yes thanks Got all the info needed... Will start booking soon. Just trying to figure out if upgrade certs can be used on that type of fare... Looking for the Orchid next week but they are showing garden or partial ocean view and no Gold, suites or front ocean front rooms. NFAF at the Orchid will only show up the basic garden view room, partial ocean view and regular ocean view room. Other rooms and suites are not available NFAF, but you can check availability of the rooms by looking under other rates i.e. rate of the day. I find advanced prepaid option is excellent rates for all other room/suite categories. I see clear availability for all rooms under regular rates except for garden view suite in early part of Spring break. So if you were to upgrade to a suite, you will have to book ocean view suite guaranteed.. That means pay the ocean view room or deluxe ocean view room (reservations is inconsistent with this info.. I always book garden view suite) and use suite cert to get Executive Ocean View Suite. Regarding room upgrade certs.. CFH is right, cannot upgrade to gold with certs. FPC is protective about the gold floor.. won't give it away very often.. does happen, but not as a regular upgrade. All other rooms/suites are game at check-in (except presidential suite). We will be at the Orchid for 15 nights in a suite over spring break.. Hopping over to Kea Lani for another 7 nights. Less than a month to go.. yippeeeee:cool: |
