My response

Dear Banyan Tree,

While I enjoyed your hotels tremendously, I can't say the same about your CRM system.

As a matter of fact, I am Mr and have been for about 38 years. Despite my numerous visits to Thailand, I intend on staying Mr for quite a number of years more.

You obviously do not like my French Surname and have decided to rename me Chew.

I could agree to change my name by deed poll but I am not sure I am so keen on Chew... Do I have other options?

I also appreciate your nice intention of protecting me from the cold weather by suggesting a little trip to the Maldives. I however live in Singapore, the country of your headquarter and therefore experience lows of 26C. May I suggest that your experience with cold weather in Singapore is most likely due to a faulty air-con.

Apart from changing my name and gender and not knowing about the weather in your own country.... you are doing a great job.

I got that email too but they did get my name correct. Anybody else had problems with the newsletter addressing you with a different name? This could be one of those "human errors" mixing up customers' emails and names.

It does remind me of when I got one from them thanking me for my stay the day before I checked in - not too sure how their IT system works at least I was a Mr on my reservation

Unrelated company but same topic nonetheless. I have over the last year received 6 to 7 emails, welcoming me to my soon-to-come stay on so-and-so date at a particular Langham hotel in Hong Kong, along with offer of assistance to make restaurant bookings and spa appointments!

Funnily my wife would receive the same email too at around the same time - so for a brief moment I thought she had made reservations for a surprise weekend stay, and she thought likewise about me. Disappointingly we each found out later that neither had made reservations for the stay. Weird thing was, it turned out Langham's email system went berserk and starting sending phantom reservation confirmations to everyone on its database!
