Alitalia MilleMiglia - No welcome to Club Ulisse?

View Full Version : No welcome to Club Ulisse?

Hi,
I just made enough qualifying miles to reach Club Ulisse last week.
What really surprised me is the lack of email communications regarding the status. Moreover, no bonus miles were awarded on a flight made after reaching CU.

Is this normal? Am I too low of a customer to be deemed worthy of a welcome email? :D :D

Thanks :)

Haha.. well, no surprise here.. even a friend of mine qualified as an Alata Freccia Plus, no emails, nothing of any recognition from Alitalia.

Only about 3-4 months later a card was received with the vouchers and coupons, no luggage tags, etc.. though it was at the time AZ was nearly going under..

With AZ, lowering your expectations will make the experience much more nicer.. not that they are a bad airline.. just don't expect much..

:)

Article 7 - Exclusive Clubs
7.1 The Member who reaches the quota of qualifying Miles set forth and indicated on the Internet website www.alitalia.com and/or in the Guide (earned from 1 January to 31 December of the same year) is automatically and freely enrolled in the "Club Ulisse" or the "Club Freccia Alata" or the "Club Freccia Alata Plus". Membership of the exclusive Clubs means that the Company will grant the special benefits and advantages listed on its website www.alitalia.com and/or in the Guide and/or in the Notices of the Programs. The Company reserves the right to change these benefits and advantages at its own discretion, informing the Member with adequate advance notice.
7.2 Membership of the Club Ulisse, Freccia Alata and Freccia Alata Plus will be valid until 31 December of the year following the year in which the qualifying Miles in order to determine the Member’s status were earned.
7.3 The necessary miles to join the exclusive Clubs represent a reference parameter that does not prejudice their ability to use Miles for Reward requests.
7.4 The status of Club Ulisse, Freccia Alata or Freccia Alata Plus Members will be determined starting from the beginning of the month after the Company systems recognize the miles necessary to join the Clubs

So, per rule 7.4, your status will update on October 1 if you qualified in September and will be valid until Dec 31, 2010.

I fully quote and agree. It happens exactly as described.
They are not so good in marketing...we will see in the future but I do not know...
Anyhow print-out your status and "enjoy" its benefits...AZ counters may print you also a short summary of your status if you have connections in AMS and CDG...

C'mon Zazza, that's AZ. You will get your unuseful welcome in the next2-3 months: a letter with your plastic card. Maybe you will get earlier an email.
I can only suggest to you to print out the screen in case of need...you may also ask to print your profile from AZ check-in counters...it is even more useful and understandable abroad.
ciao

Actually i think it's already in their dna, they must find a way to express the care they have for customaresm

Yesterday i had another excellent experience with their customare care, but still i would have liked a welcome via email.

Cheers

Aren't you excited after such long waiting???:D

Gold status in AZ for me meant:
good cappuccino and cake in AZ lounges (the other airlines simply do not know what's a cappuccino!) and priority on award prizes (there's a special lot for Freccia Alata only).

The other benefits are not so evident or really enforced (like priority boarding, seating etc etc)

There's a fast track but it works only on LIN (and FCO, but I do not know, I do not use AT ALL FCO) while in MXP simply do not exist even if they still state the contrary.

But next year I will be silver only...than I will loose the only 2 real benefits and simply I will switch to Star Alliance where my gold is already valid till 2011 and soon 2013 (thanks TK^^^^!)

This is the only one benefit that is really great being an FA. My partner was able to snatch a really good Biz seat during the High season period in Dec just last week when KLM themselves were not showing any availability except in their daylight robbery miles seat (3x miles) than what was needed for AZ.

i'm a priority pass member, no big changes between the AZ lounges and the others
and priority on award prizes (there's a special lot for Freccia Alata only).
that's true for CU also. i was able to spend 160k miles for a biz award ticket to LAX for last year eve

this is so true. i always have to fight with "normal" passengers trying to jump the queue or complaining beacuse i do so having been in the lounge till the very last minute.

there's one in fco also and they should implement it in mxp as well as in the other 6 AZ bases

BTW i'm still waiting for my card to come

Sorry Zazza to contredict you but if you go in some European lounge related to ST or *A you will never find a real cappuccino as they serve in the AZ lounges in Milan or Rome. You will find instead a lot of crappy coffe-machines not even Italian that can serve you horrible mix of milk and coffee (like Melitta machines in CDG).
For me that's one difference can I still appreciate as Italian.
I'm not longer a fan of AZ but I still notice and underline differences.

I have no particular experience with CU but the special additional lot of places for Gold members is not something commonly available in other FT programs. Just check how difficult is to get a prize with Flying Blue...
Btw, a FCO-LAX-FCO flight would have costed to you only 100K in business (cheaper than with CU).
Actually you may also find a lot of availabilities around New Year's Eve with AZ...

I do not know where you read it but they simply do not have money for that.
Just discuss it with some employee in MXP or in the lounges....just to discover how short they are in cash:rolleyes:
In my opinion they will keep the service where's actually (LIN, FCO) and stop.

But this is not a real advantage unless you flight between LIN-FCO or through FCO...but if you are a FT going often abroad even with code-shared partners then you will find it almost useless.:(

got your point;)
mine was about the overall service you get inside the alitalia vs other lounges i experienced thank to my priority pass membership.
anyway, even if i'm italian, i'm not a big espresso fan, i love the american coffe and it's average in any lounge i've been in :D

with CU i meant Club Ulisse^
and with my basic club ulisse membership i was able to book two biz seats fco-cdg-lax-cdg-lin for 160k (total) on AF. i will try and experience the FA service during easter holydays ;)

uhm, i'm almost sure that i used a fast track in mxp but i might be wrong:( the other fast tracks were announced by mr sabelli some time ago, when those will be ready is somthing re which i have no clue.

still i'm waiting for my card to arrive:cool:
