hi i have about 20,000 delta skymiles that i am not going to use. i would like to transfer them to amtrak. is that possible? and if i can how will it help when booking the autotrain. thanks.

Doubt you can do anything directly to Amtrak, but I have transferred 60K Continental miles to Amtrak points on a one for one basis.

I don't think that there is good way to do this exchange.
In any case, what you want to do is exchange your Delta Skymiles for Continental Onepass miles, since as bkkth pointed out it's easy to exchange Continental Onepass miles for AGR points.
This summer I traded 25,000 Delta Skymiles for 20,000 Continental miles on points.com, and then transferred them to AGR. This was worth it to me, but was hardly a great deal. Not only did I not get a one-for-one exchange, but that trade cost more an a penny a mile.

Jeany, if U can find a friend who has CO miles, s/he can deposit them to your Amtrak acct. by calling Onepass & giving your # as if it were his/her own (they don't check.)
In return U can use your DL miles to book him/ her a ticket. No transfer fees!
