Online Travel Booking and Bidding Agencies - Booked Hotwire for a friend who can't use the stay

I have booked a hotwire stay for a friend of mine (payed by me). She will not be able to use it and I am now wondering if anybody know if it is possible for me to give the stay to another person? It is said, when booking at Hotwire, that the name at the booking has to be the same as the one who check in, but I just wonder how strict they are... I have e-mailed the hotel and waiting for a replay, just wondered if anybody have a clue on this?

Forget hotwire...

Call the hotel; ask for the name of the "2nd guest" to be added to the reservation. This should allow the 2nd guest to check-in. 2nd guest will most likely be asked about orginal/1st. guest; answer: 1st guest will check-in later...

Thank you so much. I e-mailed the hotel, but they never answered me. On the other hand, I haven't gotten anybody to use the stay, so I have forgotten all about it.
