Hello Hilton,
Not only does Marriott still have PointSaver awards, they are also offering mileage rebates for using them:

Hilton always just seems to go off and do it's own thing without regard to competitors promotions, so I doubt we'll see any response.
The opposite relationship is UA and AA who specialize in mirroring eachothers promos within hours.

Shouldn't this be posted in the Marriott board? I don't understand the reason for posting this here, as it has nothing to do with Hilton. Is the OP an employee for Marriott looking for business?

I agree that Hilton needs to have a fire lit under its behind.
However, I think current Hilton managenment is oblivious.
Seems to have gotten worse since it was taken over by a hedge fund.
For now I'm not holding my breath--and have moved most of my business to Marriott.

I have moved mostly to SPG. Better service, better promos, and I'm very happy with the quality of the hotels.

Four responses to my initial post so far... and three clearly had no difficulty understanding my message.
Was I too subtle?
No... I don't work for Marriott. I am a lifetime Platinum at Marriott, but they get relatively little of my business now. And, I own no Marriott stock. Nor am I married to anyone on the Marriott family. I am free of any potential conflict.
I just happen to think that 30,000 points for a night in a Hampton Inn (as I have been quoted recently) is too much in the current economic conditions.
I am hoping for a little competition here.
Is there need for additional clarification?
Sorry to be brusque... but the conspiracy theories on FT are getting a bit tiring.

No question--I'm moving to Marriott because I have to. Without pointsavers there is NO value. Most Hilton family hotels are mediocre these days.

So.... just another whiny thread, like so many thousands of others? ;) Does anyone really think that through constant whining, things will somehow magically get better? (Whatever one's definition of "better" may be.)
Funny thing is, I still find that Hilton meets my needs (and is NOT "mediocre" by any stretch, at least for my purposes). ;)
The big change for me this year is moving away from Starwood, and including Priority Club (Holiday Inn etc.) in the mix instead. So, to each his/her own. I'm not whining about Starwood -- just find that Priority Club (+ Hilton HHonors) seems to be a better fit for me.

I think you would have had better luck if this had been your first post, as this one state a little more clearly what you were trying to relate. And yes 30,000 for a Hampton is a bit much, but I am sure their are other Hilton properties close to where you want to stay. Besides, with this economy you speak of, I see hotel prices slashed so much, I am saving my points and going with cash.

Actually I understood why it was posted here. Marriott offering something & the OP wondering if Hilton would do the same or something similar, etc. It's obviously a to each their own re: which chain works better for each traveler (or mixture of chains), but while some get tired of those who are 'whining', some of us get tired of those who continually berate others ;) And whether airline or hotel or car rental, chains can't adjust if people don't comment, whether good or bad. FWIW - I think the OP could have been a tad more descriptive in the first post & then some of the other bashing might not have occurred. OVMV.
Cheers.
