I'm planning Amex two-for-one travel on JL, preferably originating at JFK. I know it's not the lowest possible discount, but it's appropriate for my purposes.
The ticket books into D inventory. Previously, that has never been a problem for me on JFK-NRT with 4+ weeks of advance notice. But looking at outbound travel the week of November 2, I see D0 all week.
Any thoughts? Others faced similar problems? I feel I'm booking far in advance, in a reasonably high bucket (not, say, "I"). I was hoping for more options.
I'd rather not originate at ORD -- further afield from where my companion and I are starting, requiring longer and more costly domestic connections, and reducing the transpacific flight time. Of course we can do this if needed, but at $$$$ for the two-for-one, we were hoping to get our preferred point of origination.
I'm AA EXP, OneWorld emerald. Any way to use that to get the required inventory? Booking through Amex, that may be hard: I wonder whether Amex would even make a two-for-one reservation without D inventory on specified segments.
