Here are the onboard loads for June for Midwest and for select MKE competitors. As always, remember that onboard loads are only half the picture and don't say much about fare and traffic composition.

As mentioned before, the Skywest stats reported to the DoT for Midwest are always a few points short of what the airports report.

Frontier
90.6% ..... DEN
Northewest
78.1% ..... LAX
Similar to what I found last month, Midwest increased market share in comparison to AirTran this year versus last year to New York and Boston.
LaGuardia
Midwest +0.2%
2008 20,960
2009 21,012
AirTran -11.0%
2008 17,088
2009 15,200
Boston
Midwest -2.7%
2008 21,522
2009 20,941
AirTran -18.0%
2008 11,256
2009 9,227
MKE-LGA and MKE-BOS on Midwest had the same number of flights and approximately the same capacity in 2008 as 2009.
MKE-LGA on AirTran actually had 15 more round trips in 2009 than in 2008, but still served 11% fewer total onboard passengers. MKE-BOS on AirTran had the same flights in 2008 as in 2009.
It's especially puzzling that even with the new feed to the MKE hub from STL, MSP and DEN versus last year, onboard traffic to BOS and LGA were both off double digits from last year.
