Other North & South America Frequent Flyer Programs - How can I check my TAM reservation?

I originally booked a flight from IGU-GIG on TAM through Expedia. Since my booking, there was a schedule change that was unacceptable to me. Expedia was unhelpful in rebooking me, but I was able to get TAM itself to rebook me on a different same-day flight at no additional charge. I would, however, like to be informed of any further schedule changes and, if possible, be eligible for online check-in. But when I visit Expedia, I habitually get a message that, "There is a problem updating this itinerary at this time," which precludes me from viewing my rebooked itinerary. And when I go to TAM's website, I can't find anywhere to plug in my PNR or ticket number to pull up my reservation. So, is there anywhere online I can check my TAM reservation?

I don't believe there is, at least I have never discovered a way by using a PNR or ticket number. The only way I know of is if you are a member of their FF program, and are signed in to that when you make a purchase online, you can then see the tickets you have purchased. Even then, I don't know if they would notify you if there was a schedule change. If I buy a ticket at the airport for a future flight and give them the FF number, that ticket does not appear on the web site, even when signed in the the FF program.

TAM's website is awful. I had a similar problem myself. Recently I flew one way from Rio to Fortaleza with my wife and our (then) four-month son. Because we had the baby with us, I wanted to make sure we had good seats. There was NO way I could get an e-ticket with the assigned seats printed. No matter how many times I tried be it on their site or by phone, I was always told you can't get an e-ticket from TAM which states your assigned seat. They only told me orally over the phone I had this and that seat. Weird? You bet. You may want to try their customer service, but good luck. I hope all this nonsense gets solved once they enter *A officially, whenever that may be.

I have noted a few cosmetic changes the past several days, but have not seen any functional improvement yet.

I know of only one way to get a seat assignment with an e-ticket. You must be a member of their FFP and signed in and be able to purchase the ticket on line. This has required a Brazilian credit card, haven't checked if that changed with the "new" look. As part of the process, you can select seats, but if you skip that part, their is no way to go back to it.
I hope all this nonsense gets solved once they enter *A officially, whenever that may be.
I have been told by local TAM staff that a new computer system is coming in November. One might hope that it will be the common IT platform that *A uses.
