AVIS CUSTOMERS ENJOY A “RENTAL HEALTH DAY”
PARSIPPANY, N.J., 09-09-2009 —

Given life’s many demands, it is important to take time to unwind. With that in mind, Avis Rent A Car announced today that it is offering a free “Rental Health Day” to customers who complete a rental of five consecutive days between September 9 and December 13, 2009.

“Every so often, we all need a day to decompress and a change in scenery could be the perfect medicine,” said Becky Alseth, senior vice president of marketing for Avis Budget Group, parent company of Avis. “The Avis Rental Health Day says thank you to customers. It also encourages them to reward themselves by getting away for some quality time with loved ones or maybe doing something for which they never find time.”

To earn a Rental Health Day, customers must register online at www.avis.com/rentalhealthday (http://www.avis.com/rentalhealthday) with a valid Avis Wizard number and e-mail address. Rentals completed at participating locations in the United States, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands will apply.

Within two weeks of renting, Avis will e-email a Rental Health Day reward certificate to customers for use toward a weekday, weekend, weekly or monthly rental commencing on or before June 13, 2010. For terms and conditions, visit www.avis.com/rentalhealthday (http://www.avis.com/rentalhealthday).

To make a reservation, visit www.avis.com or contact the Avis Reservation Center at 1-800-331-1084.

From their Terms & Conditions: (https://www.ccrgservices.com/web/rentalhealthday/terms.do)

Rental Health Day reward will not be earned on rentals that receive mileage/credits/points for a frequent traveler program (i.e. airline frequent flyer, hotel points program, etc.).

This is about as worthless as AVIS First.

I know of someone (and not uncommon) who is trying to earn hits with the US Airways Grand Slam promo. His company code will NOT allow for any earning of FF miles even if the employee pays the FF fee. So this promo would be a way that one might be able to get something for free out of a biz rental.

I agree Avis First is a joke. And this promo is not really up my alley since I can get 5500 SkyMiles with each 5-day rental I have through 12/31.

In past years, 5+ day rentals in the fall typically earned a free weekend, not just one day. But it looks like the free day can be used any day of the week, so it's a wash.

I was told this promotion is only good for US residents but I couldn't find any exclusion that stated wizard member must be US based.

Whoop de do!

I really don't understand why Avis can't have a simple points system to build up and trade in for free rentals....like Hertz...or every major airline and hotel chain.

AVIS is my company's preferred rental company (but not mandatory), so getting the points from Hertz is the reason that AVIS only gets my business if they are significantly cheaper on a given trip.

I am outside the US right now and getting Error 404--Not Found when trying to register.

Exactly my problem too... Unfortunately AVIS is cheaper pretty much 99% of the time. Sucks.

I got this email too. Which seems really stupid, because if they only looked Avis could see that I've never done a rental without earning miles or such.

Yet every week they seem to send me an offer that wouldn't work if I earn miles. And never send me an offer that would work while earning miles.

What an utterly useless waste of ones and zeroes! :)
