National - Emerald Aisle Selection not showing up as Level of Service?

I haven't rented a car in a couple of months, but just made a reservation at BWI. The level of service says "Counter," but my Executive Selection EC status also shows on the reservation. I called National, she reviewed everything on my account and didn't show anything that needed updated. The phone rep said to just proceed to the Executive Selection aisle, select my car as normal, and exit.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas for resolution? I arrive after midnight, so I don't want to be hung up trying to get out of the parking garage.

Are you using a certain coupon? Renting a car seat?

Car size maybe?

At that hour, I would swing by the counter where they will probably just tell you go to out to the Isle to pick up. That's way better then getting to the gate and being told you need to go to the counter.

What car class did you book? Although, if you booked anything other than ES, it should say Emerald Reserve not counter.

I had an idea what the problem here was.. and I just tested it. Not all locations keep the lot fully open after certain hours. You said you're arriving at midnight. I did a test reservation for midnight, got counter. Did it for 7pm, got Executive Selection.

Just modified my reservation to a 7pm arrival to test and it gave me Executive Selection.

So, score that 1 for FlyerTalk, 0 for Emerald Club customer service in diagnosing the problem.

Anyone know about the Boston Downtown location? Level of service comes up as counter for a 1pm Saturday pickup. I'm taking the train up and getting a car from that point on. What should I expect?

BOS Boston Logan Airport is a full Emerald Aisle/Exec Select location. Downtown is always going to be Counter service. I infer you're picking up downtown to avoid the airport concession fee; the trade off is loss of choice from EA/ES service.

Well I am picking up downtown instead of the airport since I am taking Amtrak instead of the Shuttle from LGA. As an Exec, do I still choose an Full Size and pay the same as a mid-size? (it seemed that way when I booked). Do I get a choice at the counter of whatever they have available?

When you book, you'll get a full-size at the intermediate rate. Don't know about downtown Boston, but they'll probably tell you what your options are at the counter before giving you your keys. Unless they have none, at which point they'll give you the keys to a beat-up Sonata with 35k on the odometer. ;-)

I'm getting a similar issue when booking a late-night arrival at MSY.

So does this mean you have to go to the counter and have them assign you a car?

It'd be very annoying since being able to pick my own car as Executive Selection is the big reason why I rent from National. :(
