Hello guys,

just want to ask your opinion regarding the best Sofitel (Accor) hotel worldwide. Which hotel provides the best and most consistent service and beats other hotels with an unique location. To sum it up, which Accor hotel is by far the best?

regards,
flo

My vote would be London St. James. Location, rooms, public spaces and service are all at the top of my list of Sofitels.

it all depends if you are thinking about a "business" Sofitel or a resort-vacation Sofitel.
For the 1st category Sofitel, my vote goes to Washington-Lafayette square, Chicago water tower, Montreal and Bankgok Silom. Not necessarily in this order : they are all great.:):):)
For the 2nd category, the n°1 is without hesitation the Sofitel royal Angkor in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Absolutely fabulous^. My n°2 is the Sofitel Imperial Mauritius.

Another great one that can be placed in both categories is the Sofitel Métropole Hanoï.
So, you probably understood that it's hard forme to choose because I've been to many very nice ones ;)

I stayed at the Sofitel Imperial in Mauritius yonks ago and find the location (the beach!) and the overall impression of the resort quite good. Well, you will not be able to compare it with Le Touessrok (at least a few years ago) or Le Prince Maurice (I never stayed there:(), but it is a very good resort though.

This is really a hard one. For vacations I love the Sofitel Lisbon, great location, nice rooms and overall full of Portuguese charm.

As a business hotel in Brussels the Sofitel Europe has great modern style rooms (the suites are fantastic) and a great bar service. Of course they welcome you with an array of Belgium chocolates^

Frequently the NY Sofitel is mentioned as a good choice however while some aspects are great the overall the service leaves wanting.

Off on Sunday to the Sofitel Buenos Aires, gladly report back once I return (or from there).

I'm with you Mike, but how could you forget the beds? The beds at this hotel are better or as good as any luxury hotel in the world! And the Rose room is a must for any female. Even if you are staying at another London hotel, go to the Sofitel for tea.

I have lusted after, but never tried, the Pacific island Sofitels. I also rather like the Sofitel Marrakesh.

Best: Sofitel Melbourne. AWESOME and CONSISTENT service - the GM drives a real culture of service from the top-down. I've racked up nearly 200 nights at this hotel and it NEVER slips up. One of the best room service menus on the planet, great breakfast, great views, and perhaps the quietest rooms in any hotel around. The only downside is the lack of a 25m+ indoor heated pool - in fact, the biggest pool in the hotel is the large bath found in each prestige suite on the 50th floor.

Worst: Sofitel Los Angeles. Perhaps the noisiest rooms around - no double-glazing, despite fronting 2 VERY busy roads and having a couple of hospitals nearby frequented by rescue helicopters. Management that just couldn't give a rat's arse - a terrible Sofitel experience totally unworthy of the brand. I will NEVER return.

Back when this hotel opened, around 1997 if I recall correctly, it was regarded as Sofitel's flagship hotel. I agree it is one of the best.

IHMO, both Sofitel Chicago O'Hare and Sofitel Miami are much, much worse than LA. Old, run down, and tired.

Chicago O'hare is no longer part of the chain.

Would be really nice if somebody can write about his/her experience in any of the Sofitel hotels in Frensh Polynesia (Bora Bora)? Are those hotels worth going there?

Stayed 2 weeks in Sofitel Fiji, wasn't all that good. Not bad - but not Sofitel-worthy.
