Hi everyone,
I just discovered this forum and I luv it!!:D

I am seriously considering treating myself for my upcoming trip to London and booking upper class- at least for the way from the US to London  I am very very naive at all the amenities available, such as clubhouses, and have a few questions I'm hoping to get some insight into. (I've written Virgin customer service, but they seem verrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyy slowwwwwwwwwwww to respond).

1- What is the cost of the food, showers, spa services, etc. in the clubhouses/lounges? I would think it's 'free' because a UC ticket deffo pays for it, but I'm not certain.

2- What amenities are in the JFK lounge? It appears to be rest and food/beverage only..is there a spa too?

3- If I'm leaving LHR and not in upper class for that portion of the trip, can I still use the clubhouse before my flight leaving London?

4- how do I book a service in the Revivals lounge upon arrival or is it walk in (I'd Looooooove to get a massage after a night of traveling).

Any other tips/tricks/info y'all can provide is very appreciated!

Happy Travels everyone!

1. In the Clubhouse - once you are in, all the facilities, food and drink are complimentary, though I do like to tip the hairdresser or beauty therapist at LHR.
2. No Spa at JFK, just food / drink.
3. If you are not in Upper / do not have a gold card, you can't use the Clubhouse
4. When you get to Revivals, they will tell you what treatments are available and what sort of wait time there is. I just usually have breakfast, so can't comment on them.

If you look at some of the trip reports of V-Flyer, (http://www.v-flyer.com/forum/tripreports.asp) you will get an idea of the things that are avaialble to make your trip a memorable one.

Having just done JFK-LHR in their "Upper class" cabin, I can make the following remarks.

Their "upper class service for business class price" is rubbish. It IS business class in every aspect.

The lounge at JFK has very good food but rather unprofessional staff, with the exception of the two wonderful Indian women who waited on us at the table seating. The rest of the staff behaved as though they were at their own party, talking amoungst themselves, looking lazy and unkept, and basically ignoring their customers. One was walking around eating a bag of crips - lovely.

The "music" is aimed at the teenage crowd - bizzarre because about 95 percent of those in the lounge were in the 45 years plus crowd. It was loud and sounded like a bunch of noise. I would have thought some decent 70-80s music would be more appropriate, given the listeners. (God knows anything soft or classical would be frowned upon - not "hip" enough for Virgin).

Once onboard, the service was good and friendly. We had an excellent FA (and she was gorgeous, wow - petite with brown hair and eyes). The seat is a bit scary and I found it claustrophobic, compared to the Air Canada business class seat. It was VERY nice for sleeping, however. In fact, I think they have the best "bed" in business class. They give you a nice pillow and duvet as well.

They did not offer a sleeper suit, but had it if you asked.

The food was not very good onboard. Definitely ask for the salad dressing as "separately".

Those are my honest thoughts -good luck.

Their "upper class service for business class price" is rubbish. .....

I think the (rather ridiculous) claim is actually First Class service at a Business Class price.

Presumably made in the US, where the Advertising Standards Agency doesn't operate.;)
