Personally I would hope that you would put the cat in the cargo hold. Some of us are very allergic to cat/dog hair. I have to agree. I am absolutely astonished to find that C class allows pets--in any way manner or form. Most people flying there are doing so because they want the quiet and comfort afforded. Your animal is a disruption. AND as said, people have allergies. I would not be happy sitting next to you and your animal. ( and I love animals) ELAL Sep 13, 09, 5:25 pm I have to agree. It never ceases to amaze me the number of people who sit their kids in economy, and then expect me to be understanding as their angels come to visit mommy and daddy and hang over my seat! ( for a very short time, since I can have a very big mouth!;) ebzed Sep 14, 09, 1:16 pm Touche' ElAl. What do you have against kids? Lucky you didnt offered them to send the kids to cargo as well! I usually take my kids me in business, and whoever tries to remark on this is getting in trouble with me..., They pay the same, They deserve the same. (Kids coming from economy to father/mother, Its acceptable as long its not happening every 5 minutes...) economyman Sep 14, 09, 3:26 pm What do you have against kids? (Kids coming from economy to father/mother, Its acceptable as long its not happening every 5 minutes...) Everything you say is correct except for the last sentence in brackets. There's a reason there is a curtain between economy and business and kids should be no exception. If you paid for them to sit in C or F then fine, no complaints - I have done the same with mine (when they were gentle and quiet - today I may think twice). awayIgo Sep 14, 09, 4:47 pm What do you have against kids? Lucky you didnt offered them to send the kids to cargo as well! (Kids coming from economy to father/mother, Its acceptable as long its not happening every 5 minutes...) If you paid for your kids to sit in business that is one thing. However, it is annoying and wrong to have the kids going back and forth. I dont' need to have them hanging on my seat, banging my seat--or making me wait on line for the restroom.( and making a mess there) Sorry, I pay for a certain service and I expect to get it. If mom and dad want to visit with kiddies, then let them go back to economy. AND I do not care if it happens every 5 minutes or every 60 minutes! ebzed Sep 14, 09, 6:35 pm Do you have kids? (Welcome to FT, If no one welcomed you already). awayIgo Sep 14, 09, 9:58 pm Do you have kids? (Welcome to FT, If no one welcomed you already). No I do not. I am a teacher and have been so for over 30 years--so I am not exactly a stranger to kids and their needs. However, I frequently fly and go straight to work--so I need my sleep, not having kids hanging nearby! Thanks for the welcome. I've posted once or twice quite awhile ago and lurk frequently! economyman Sep 14, 09, 11:45 pm Do you have kids? (Welcome to FT, If no one welcomed you already). Having kids, of which I have a few, doesn't give me automatic rights to circumvent rules, unless there is a specific written or accepted exception. clubman Sep 15, 09, 4:10 am I frequently fly and go straight to work--so I need my sleep, not having kids hanging nearby! !I agree with your comments about kids coming to visit their parents in a forward cabin, but you do realise that kids (and babies) do travel in premium classes, and your comment above do suggest you have a problem with that... ebzed Sep 15, 09, 7:05 am No I do not. However, I frequently fly and go straight to work--so I need my sleep, not having kids hanging nearby! Thanks for the welcome. I've posted once or twice quite awhile ago and lurk frequently! I dont understand why there is a different between a kid that was paid to be in business class, and will make noise, hang on your chair (how this is possible?) to a kid that visit his parents from economy to business... believe me as someone who flight a little bit, Kids in business are noisey sometimes (and i dont have any problem with that!) You remind me the times when only paid business class children could go to the lounge, and a PL flying with his kid in economy couldnt let the kid go to the lounge! clubman Sep 15, 09, 7:16 am You remind me the times when only paid business class children could go to the lounge, and a PL flying with his kid in economy couldnt let the kid go to the lounge!Talking of which, what is the age limit these days for entry into the TLV KD lounge? economyman Sep 15, 09, 7:36 am I dont understand why there is a different between a kid that was paid to be in business class, and will make noise, hang on your chair (how this is possible?) to a kid that visit his parents from economy to business... believe me as someone who flight a little bit, Kids in business are noisey sometimes (and i dont have any problem with that!) You remind me the times when only paid business class children could go to the lounge, and a PL flying with his kid in economy couldnt let the kid go to the lounge! Of course there is a difference between kids in business on a paid ticket and kids in business to visit their parents just like there is a difference for an adult who has paid for business and one who just pops by to say hello to a friend. I have a problem with both but in most cases at least the adult will be quiet as he knows he/she is not supposed to be there. Recently I travelled in First and a friend from business came over and sat next to me for a quiet chat. We were very quiet but after a short time the purser asked that he goes back to business and I understand that. Generally when you pay for a ticket in business you are paying a premium for having a more comfortable seat, better food (well...), overall a more quiet and relaxing environment, and more space. It's true that sometimes there can be kids in business paid for, in which case if they make a noise there is not much you can do about it but again there is a reason they have a curtain between the cabins and it's to keep people in the cabin they paid for so that the premium cabins remain exactly as such, premium. ELAL Sep 15, 09, 7:44 am Recently saw a couple with 3 children, including a small baby, where mum was left in economy with all the kids, and dad nicely went for business, I wonder if he even allowed his wife and kids to visit him Crazyhotelguy Sep 15, 09, 8:01 am On a recent trans con (AA LAX-MIA) in C, I had a man with a dog and another with kids in Y that constantly hung off the seat - all in one row. The man with the kids visiting did not discourage thevisiting kids, but even promoted it. He even had the FA give him a pile of cookies to take back to coach. To me this is really pushing it. If you want to feel that involved with the family, sit in Y or upgrade them. The constant traffic is annoying and redistributing snacks like that is just tacky in my opinion. ebzed Sep 15, 09, 9:21 am Guys take it easy... When its not possible for me, Wife and kids are in Economy and i am in business, This is not because i am disgusting some people have health issues that require them to go business... From problems with L2,L5 to DVT issues. I try as much as possible to take my family with me in the same class but sometimes its not possible, I believe that some of the "other" disgusting people might have also reasons... (And yes i ask for cookies and deserts and pass to economy kids, Even not mine! (i tend to walk a lot in during the flight, so i take some stuff and give to kids i see)) I agree with all that those things should be prevented (kids running in C when they are in Y), But you need also to try and understand the other side, Kids are Kids, they want to see the parents... If you wont come with Anti Attitude it wont disturb you (at least until a certain point) apirchik Sep 15, 09, 9:28 am I have to agree. ( for a very short time, since I can have a very big mouth!;) When you buy a C seat, you buy a C seat, not a share in the airline and not the right to tell the airline who to seat next to you. You will be disgusted to seat next to a man and his pet? what if this will not be a pet but just a smelly person who did not take a shower for a week? People in coach have allergies too. yosithezet's pledge not to bring cats on board was for all cabins. The comments about kids are too low to comment on. :td: clubman Sep 15, 09, 11:06 am Recently saw a couple with 3 children, including a small baby, where mum was left in economy with all the kids, and dad nicely went for business, I wonder if he even allowed his wife and kids to visit himELAL, I think using the word disgusting here is a little harsh don't you think? Also i am not joking here, but many times i have seen wives in business and husband with kids in economy! what are those? awayIgo Sep 15, 09, 8:25 pm Clubman--Go back to post #9 where you will see I clearly stated that I have no problem with kids who have PAID to be in premium classes. THEY have a seat! Ebzed--they "hang on the chair' when I am sitting in an aisle seat accross from or in front of mom and or dad!, or theoretically, it hasnt happened, mom or dad are by th window! Although I will be honest. I havent' had visiting kids with the upgraded seats so I am not sure if it will be better or worse. haydensydney Sep 15, 09, 8:32 pm A cat in business class? Ridiculous Seriously - I cannot imagine why someone would want to take their cat onboard - its the most absurd thing i've heard. Most cats i've known in my life have hated cars, let alone aircraft - do everyone a favour and put it in the hold. ELAL Sep 16, 09, 12:39 am Are you by mistake one of those wives? you look obsessed somehow... Also i am not joking here, but many times i have seen wives in business and husband with kids in economy! what are those? I'm not a wife, and neither am I obsessed. It's you who are feeling uncomfortable with the fact that you leave your family in economy;) apirchik Sep 16, 09, 2:13 am I'm trying to see what was low about the comments about kids. In my eyes they are perfectly legitmate comments. I love kids but still don't want them hanging about in C if there parents have paid for them to be in Y. I too have a problem with anyone entering the C area without a seat there - a kid, a colleague, wife or granpa, cat or dog. This is not what annoyed me. What annoyed me is this comment by ELAL: ... BTW I assume with your child, you'll have less of a problem to part with, and you'll nicely seat them in economy This is about "I don't want you to pay for your kids in C - I don't want them around at all!". ELAL Sep 16, 09, 3:17 am This is about "I don't want you to pay for your kids in C - I don't want them around at all!". If so go and join them in economy, and not dump them there and you go stretch out in business economyman Sep 16, 09, 3:32 am I too have a problem with anyone entering the C area without a seat there - a kid, a colleague, wife or granpa, cat or dog. This is not what annoyed me. What annoyed me is this comment by ELAL: Ok, I understand - I misunderstood you. This is about "I don't want you to pay for your kids in C - I don't want them around at all!". However, I don't think this is what ELAL was trying to say. He was saying that the person who want to bring his/her cat into business probably has no problem parting with their children and seating them in economy. I don't think ELAL has a right to say this as he has no idea whether the poster loves cats more than kids (which is what he is alluring to) but nonetheless, he didn't mean what you thought he meant. yosithezet Sep 16, 09, 4:02 am People in coach have allergies too. yosithezet's pledge not to bring cats on board was for all cabins. I don't believe that pets belong in the cabin with human passengers. I am allergic to dog/cat hair (dandruff actually) and prefer not to end an 11 hour flight with my head totally stuffed up. I'm trying to figure out where I stand with regards to seeing-eye dogs. They aren't going to be guiding their owner to the bathroom so I guess they should also be in the cargo hold. But they need to be totally alert at the destination, so I'm not sure. With regards to kids and whatnot. I'm just as annoyed by the adults that stand in the aisle in Y and chat with their friends for hours on end. The Thursday night BOM-TLV flight is especially bad as everyone knows everyone. Of course I've become less sensitive to this since I got my noise isolating earbuds. Even crying babies don't effect me. ebzed Sep 16, 09, 8:25 am I'm trying to figure out where I stand with regards to seeing-eye dogs. Those should be with the owner, Its not related if they guide or not, There is some kind of "relationship" between those that should be kept. On US flights I always see them onboard. You know that there are also anti allergic medications, I dont say you need to take them, but it always good to have one near by incase you boarded a plane with a dog or cat. |
