Alitalia MilleMiglia - Any chance of LAX-FCO coming back?

Does anyone know if there is any chance of LAX-FCO coming back? I can't believe there is NO AIRLINE (US or International) that flies this route...

I do not know...but I think AZ should reintroduce it at least for the next summer when economy will be stronger. After all they could have some plane more at that time....
On the other hand AF-KL-DL will surely push in order to fill their shared flights...

It's just amazing that there is no airline that flies from LAX to Italy (any city) non-stop...

I completely agree with you, I took FCO-LAX on July 08, with an awesome experience on 777 Magnifica class, and by the time I was coming back on Dec it was already pulled out from GDS months before. Being a roman recently moved to LA, it's also more frustrating...

Anyway, I had the opportunity to get in touch with one of Alitalia's VP, and he confirmed their will to reinstate that route next year, when they'll receive more LR planes. (I suspect a launch for the summer, just like '08)

Great news! I hope it comes to stay and doesn't leave at the end of the summer again.

AZ 620/621 FCO-LAX-FCO should be resumed next summer as 5 times-per-week service (1.3.567) with 777.
Probably confirmation within 3-4 weeks.

I got yesterday the same news. LAX-FCO will be back.

Can't wait.. would be even better from MXP but I guess I can't ask for everything...:p

As per the above press release, future destinations in AZ network will be LAX (now confirmed), then PVG, ICN and GIG. Interesting list of destinations. I expect all of them will be operated from FCO. MXP will keep growing to reinforce destinatins already served from FCO.
