El Al Matmid - El Al 744 Business class and schedule question

Hi.

Have all the El Al 744's been upgraded to the new business class seat?

Also I see some strange things in the winter schedule. From November flights to Bangkok change to 744 and 772 aircraft...ok. But on some days they show a 744 flying TLV-BKK and then a 772 doing the return BKK-TLV that night. Where has the 744 aircraft gone to and where has the 772 come from?

I see people mention that they can see El Al seat maps on the El Al website. What is the link to this?

Thanks.

Sorry its in hebrew, didnt found an english version.

As for the mix with the planes, there are many possibilities,
one of them might poor updates on the web site, The other
is since the 747 used also for cargos, its possible that those
that arrive at night will fly only in the morning while the 777
that arrived in the morning will get out at night....
(I remember when they built the Azrieli Towers, EL-AL did this
to bring all the materials from canada to israel).

Hmmm?

So have all the 744's been upgraded to the new business class seat?

I notice the 772's show a seat pitch of 62 inches whereas the 744's only 55 inches which seems to be the same pitch as the old style seat had.

The seat map is very nice but does not explain the seat style.

All the 772's and all but one of 744's have the exact same kind/style of F and C seats. They are the "new" ones.

On one of the 744's (4X-ELE, acquired used from Singapore Airlines) you will find the older Singapore F and C seats which are (IMHO) better than the "new" El Al F and C on the other 744's.

4X-ELE also has VOD for IFE. It is a slightly antiquated VOD, but certainly better than what you'll get on the other 4 744's and on 4 of the 6 772's, EXCEPT for 4X-ECE (772) and 4X-ECF (772) which have excellent new VOD. Kind of pathetic that LY didn't at least put that new VOD on the 4 older 772's if they were redoing the seats anyway.

We heard some months ago that the 744s/777s were going to be upgraded to AVOD from next October

Thanks for the reply. I assume then that the El Al seatmaps that show a 62 inch pitch on the 772 and a 55 inch pitch on the 744 are wrong/outdated given that they are the same seat.

I know the SQ Spacebed well, a comfy seat which was the best business class seat in the world when it first came out. But has El Al replaced the SQ F seats as they flew 12 seats in the front with a 1-2-1 config at the rear of the cabin and a 1-1-1 at the nose. They couldn't use these in the 2-2 config, or are the seatmaps wrong and ELE has 12 seats still up in F or perhaps 8 seats and no 4th row?

There is an English version: double click on the aircraft, the seat map will open in Hebrew. In the lower right hand corner, it says, "English," and click on that.

Sure, I can read the Hebrew version anyway but the point made by LY777 is that the seatmap for the 744's is not up to date.
