Twice this year I had made an international connection in EZE, twice I had missing items from my well locked luggage. The thiefs seem to prefere fashion brands like Dolce and Gabbana. Anyone else with similar experiences?

I've never had anything stolen from luggage in South America. Of course, 70% of the time, I don't check any.

Just as a man wearing lots of gold and a Rolex is more likely to be robbed, expensive luggage is likely to contain much better stuff than my poor little Costco bag.

A lot of people use the luggage wrapping service pre-check-in @ EZE. I'm sure it isn't to accent the beauty of their luggage.

Yes, EZE is notoriously known for theft. Once they stole a substantial amount of cash sent by the Federal Reserve from the belly of the UA 767. Every once in a while the criminal organization stealing from luggage makes the media and then police puts on a show with arrests, etc, but after a couple of days everything is back to normal.

You should be able to claim with your airline or insurance, and never ever put any of value on your luggage if you're going to/through EZE.

I've never had a problem even with good luggage and premium tags (knock wood). I have never understood though how this happens at ANY major airport. Isn't everything in camera range? Is the system really that unsecured that workers have time to rifle through luggage unobserved? Maybe somebody can enlighten me as to HOW the thieves commit these crimes.

I have had items stolen from my checked luggage three times. Twice in LIS, and once in either GRU or CDG.
TAP Air Portugal refused any responsability for the theft in LIS, but weeks later they arrested a gang of luggage workers.

Lots of flights, never experienced that.
I think it happens everywhere and my only suggestion is avoiding anything that can draw attention.

After an AR flight LGW-MAD-EZE a couple of years ago (when AR still had a connection to London), my bag arrived the following day, and when I went to the AR office to get it I found an ipod cable had been removed, but a pink fluffy baseball cap added. Nice.

recently flew scl-eze-lim on the LA2429 on a Done4, and when we arrived in Lima had 'lost' two torches a swiss army pocket knife, not much but still happend in EZE whilst in transit. However we did travel through eze 5 times but only once was it a transit and only once were items stolen

Yes. Flying MH twice out of three departures from EZE items were stolen from my locked luggage. The locks had been intentionally broken off my luggage. Old well travelled baggage but the great MH crew had plastered first class all over it so I guess it became a target. Now whenever I fly through EZE I get my baggage wrapped and only leave dirty washing for them to go through (that said have had jeans and shirts stolen from baggage in EZE).
This problem means I try to avoid EZE if possible.
