Alitalia MilleMiglia - Alitalia flight cancellation refund

I recently came back from Italy.
We bought 5 Alitalia tickets to fly from Florence to Rome - well the flight got cancelled due to weather so we had to rent a car to get to Rome in time for a dinner reservation :)

Anyway Alitalia claimed the travel agency should refund our tickets; the travel agency says - nope - the airline should do that.

Any idea where to start?

Such a major pain to deal with these ppl!

Thanks

there are better ways to go from florence to rome.
train would have been a nice ide, keep that in mind next time you come and visit the belpaese.
anyway did you already try filling a claim online? (http://www.alitalia.com/en_en/contact_assistance/suggestments_complaints/claims-form.htm)

An agency won't touch a refund of a non-refundable ticket for fear of a debit memo from the airline. If the airline cancelled the flight, then it is the airline's responsibility to refund...period. They are the c/c merchants and the COC is in their name.
