Las Vegas - Luggage Stolen from Mandalay Bay Bellhop

Title says it all...recently spent several days at the Mandalay Bay in LV. Checked our bags with the bellhop @ front desk when we checked out of the room for our evening flight. Returned to depart for airport and half the bags are missing, shockingly all of the most important bags.

Hotel staff was less than helpful. No one could provide any answers regarding what happened, when the issue will be resolved, or any help regarding flights. The staff literally told us to change our flights ourselves (while we filled out claim reports), and they MIGHT be able to reimburse us.

This was an absolutely terrible experience.

Can anyone provide suggestions on the best way to deal with this situation? Thank you

All casinos have very good CCTV coverage and must have recordings saved for at least 7 days. While the baggage store area is not a gaming area it will be covered too.

that's what i thought too, however, one bag had a credit card in it that was used for fraudulent charges after the bags were dropped off...hence they are certainly gone.

while i would love to see the criminals caught, my main concern is trying to get coverage of our stolen items

1. Immediate emails to the MB's manager and to the hotel's owners/ownership group's CEO.

2. A "Lawyer Letter" (Threatening a "Writ of G*ddamnus and intentions to wreak substantial clamor). Don't use OJ's lawyers.

3. Checking up on Nevada's innkeeper's liability laws, which knowing the extent to which the hotel/casino lobby controls the state legislature, may consist of a token $2 bill and "Don't let the door slap you on the butt on your departure."

Maybe this is too simple, but did you report the theft, & subsequent fraudulent credit card use, to the LV police? A stolen property report to the police may force the MB to not only take this more seriously than it sounds like they did, but also preserve the CCTV records mentioned previously.

yep, good point. police said that hotel usually handles everything to their satisfaction...well not to my satisfaction. i have yet to be contacted by ANYONE at the Mandalay. They have no email address on their website.

this is SO frustrating. If anyone has an email address for the mandalay so ican have a written record of our correspondence, that would be great....

Did you check your final bill from MB? Some hotels put the GM's name on the bills @ check-out. Same w/your original reservation confirmation-there may be something on there.

Another option-contact someone in the MB sales division & ask for the GM contact info, perhaps w/an abbreviated version of the story. There is a listing of all the sales staff at
http://www.mandalaybay.com/conventions/ConventionTeam.aspx
http://www.mandalaybay.com/conventions/ExecutiveMeetingsTeam.aspx

Looking at their list of e-mail address', if you can get the name of the GM, even just by calling the hotel directly, you may be able to figure it out as it appears they use just the first initiallast name@mandalaybay.com The direct phone# to the hotel appears to be 702-632-7777.

Hope this helps.

joe001, sorry to hear of the frustrations. If you want to go to the top, you could send an email to Jim Murren, CEO of MGM MIRAGE, which owns the Mandalay Bay. I can bet that a reply from his office to the right people at MB will get your situation handled immediately. I would keep it very brief, and not too negative, to ensure it gets read. First initial, last name @ mirage.com.

Good luck and welcome to FT. Please let us know how things work out.
