Fairmont President's Club - New Year's Stay - What Year Is Stay Credited?

Sorry if this has been asked before but I could not find the answer.
I'm thinking of making a booking over New Year's; likely something like Dec 30/09 to Jan 2/10. Would the nights be counted as 2009 or 2010 for status qualification?
I've already qualified for 2010 platnium through the Amex Plat promotion. I'm hoping that such a stay would be counted as 2010 to help earn status for 2011.

30 rooms nights in a calendar year would to me mean checking in on 30th Dec. would see it and the 31st Dec. counted in '09 towards '10 elite status while 1st & 2nd Jan. counted as '10 elite stay credit. The wording seems straightforward enough to me but if still in doubt call FPC for their interpretation. :)

Sorry to derail the thread, but YEG user mentioned something that confuses me. I qualified for 2009 status with the Amex promotion and have my welcome package/upgrades, but I didn't know if this was like AC in that I really earned "early" status for 2009 and full status also for 2010, or if I have to re-earn status for 2010 starting Jan 1 2010... Anyone know?

Propofol, as far as I know, you've qualified early for 2009 and will receive a full 2010 package as well (at least that is what I'm hoping as I'm in the same boat).
Tcook, the wording seems fairly straightforward to me too, but I have a tendency to overanalyze things. For example, you can also qualify for status based on stays. Would such a stay be counted in 2009 or 2010, or would they count a stay for each year? For some reason I was under the impression (and I don’t know why) that the entire stay would be credited based on either the check-in date or the check-out date (for example if you take a flight on Dec 31 that arrives on Jan 1, the miles are posted with a date of Dec 31). Also, when I look up my past stays in my FPC profile, the only date shown for each stay is the departure date. I’ll likely take your advice and call in just to make sure. Thanks!

My take would be everything hinging on "calendar year" in terms of nights, not stays over New Years. But yes, please let us know what FPC says for future forum participants who may have the same question. :)

Stays typically credit to the year of the check-in date. If you want a stay to count for next year, you'll have to check-in next year. Be careful to leave a day between stays if you're checking in/out of the same hotel (in 1st/out2nd; in 2nd/out3rd =1stay ~ in 1st/out 2nd; in 3rd/out4th = 2 stays ).
