Travel Photography - Nikon D40 - can it do 4G?

My wife's D40 is equipped with a 2G card, which is plenty except when it isn't. I wondered if a D40 could accept a larger card. Any experience to share?

According to Nikon it should take a 4gb card:

I use 8gb Sandisk Extreme II without any problems.

The 8G card is installed and looks like it works. (Now she'll need a bigger hard drive - it never ends.);)
