I'm Platinum with Aeromexico and just booked 2 coach class tickets from Cancun to Bali using my miles for our May 2010 honeymoon.

Outbound flights AM 444 CUN - MEX
AM 644 MEX - LAX
KE 12 LAX - Seoul
KE 629 Seoul - Bali

Return flights KE 630 Bali - Seoul
KE 17 Seoul - LAX
AM 644 LAX - MEX
AM 583 MEX - CUN

As a platinum in AM I can confirm upgrades to business 72 hours before my flight departs for me and my companion even on award tickets. I'm aware that most airlines are not as generous with upgrades and I don't expect much from Korean. If you were me what seats would book in coach for the Korean flights? Do you think that there's any chance of an upgrade considering my level with AM and it's a honeymoon trip? Is it even worth asking??

I checked seat guru but there are any configurations and I can't tell which we we'll fly on exactly. Any other suggestions on making this the best possible trip would be appreciated.

We will arrive in Seoul at 5am and won't leave for Bali until the next day 5pm so we will have two full days and one night. I know that airport is one hour away from the city but I think it would be good to go to stay in Seoul. Any suggestions on where to stay and things to see on a short stay. We enjoy nice restaurants and are willing to spend $200 a night for a hotel room.

Thanks in advance

KE upgrades elites or anybody ONLY when Y class is overbooked, unfortunately. No exceptions for honeymooners (I'm sorry). Once overbooked, elites and full/near-full fare passengers do have priority as many airliners do. But no harm to ask with cute and polite face. Not only Y but also upper classes are usually packed on LAX-ICN-LAX, so I wouldn't expect much. If AM upgrades elite members even for international flights, they are very generous. KE does not have such things even on domestic routes.

In seatguru, your LAX-ICN-LAX flight will be 747 ver. 2 (same as 3) and ICN-DPS-ICN will be 333. KE does not allow pre-selection for bulkhead and exit rows, so not many options you have. I recommend window blocks of 2-4-2 seating of last 4 rows in 747 will be good for 2-people's travel.

You have enough time to taste Seoul with 2 full days. I'm a bit worried that you may need some rest after long-and-multiple flights before arriving Seoul, which come after sort of exhausting wedding ceremony.
