Hilton HHonors - HH Amex 3/6 points issue with big refund?

Should I expect a problem with HH points from Amex in the following situation:

I just (Sept) received a big refund ($2200) from an airline into my HH Amex card. For this charge I received HH points at 3 points per $ a few months ago.

However, this month I have lots of supermarket, gas stations, etc. charges that give 6 points per mile. Lets say that at end of Sept my balance will be $0 where I charged $2200, of these $1000 at supermarkets, gas stations, etc.

Will the Amex system know to give me 3000 points for the $1K that "deserve" 6 points per $ ???

If not - will calling Amex can help? Anybody run into such a case?

My one real complaint with Amex is that you can't see CC spend bonus points breakout as you can with some other loyalty programs.

I'd wait a few weeks to let the system sort itself out, then call. Of course, call immediately if your end of month statement varies significantly from what's expected.

While you can't see points for an individual purchase, you can definitely see the breakout for the whole month (base vs. bonus). It's printed right on the monthly statement!!

The credit that you will receive from the airline will be deducted from the HH points you receive, but the system will know to give you the correct amount of points for your most recent spending. As divemistressofthedark stated if you do have any issues with not receiving the correct amount of points, contact us so we can look into the situation for you.
