Other Hotel Programs - Sofitel Hamburg has lost it completely

Just checked into the Sofitel Hamburg (coming from Brussels staying at the fabulous Sofitel Europe) and the usual gift for Platinum members was dropped to my room. Now anyone familiar with this procedure will know that these gifts are normally sweets, chocolates etc. But not so at the Sofitel Hamburg: here they think their customers are dirty, so they presented me with a bar of soap!

Yes you read right, a bar of soap. The normal bar of Hermes soap you find in all Sofitel rooms.

Actually it is generally Roger & Gallet products that are proposed in Sofitels

You mustn't have stayed at a Sofitel for a while. Roger & Gallet have been phased out months ago. Standard rooms now have L'Occitane toiletries and superior rooms and higher stick Hermes.

In any case the hotel manager responded directly and agreed and apologised (with a very nice gesture). Faith restored.^

A bar of soap seems a little cheap, I agree. I dont know what Sofitel usual does, but Marriott and Hyatt usually do fruit/sweets and some drink.
