Any experience how reliable Alitalia is in these days?

They have excellent offers, but travel agencies say I should be cautious. Do you think is it more likely that they left me on an airport because of cancelled, delayed flights?

I am going to take a longer overseas family trip, so I do not want to face these problems.

I highly appreciate sharing any experiences how they do today.

Thanks a lot!

Welcome to FlyerTalk.

Look at the threads and posts in the Alitalia forum. You will see that while the financial situation of Alitalia is not as dire as it was a few months back, the level of service in the air and on the ground is miserable and horrible. While I wouldn't be so concerned about AZ going bankrupt and disappearing in the near future, don't expect much in the customer service area if you do buy a ticket.

welcome.

since the beginning of the year i took 49 az flights and the only problem i had was a 30 minutes delay in fco which resulted in a 10 minutes late landing in lin.

maybe i've been lucky but having flown to a bunch of italian cities and as well as european and usa destinations i would say that the reliability is average.

service is improving. customare care is more attentive and they helped me using my miles to book two biz award tickets to LA on AF metal. one year ago it took one month and with no success.

az might not be the best airline in the world but i think it offers a fair product considering their fares.

So it was you the one who stole my seat to LA on AF C class award tix.
:D

@OP: I agree the customercare has improved but the level of service on board is still sub-par.
