Yes, you read it right the first time.

According to Accor's web site, A-Club is celebrating it's 1st year with giving away free membership.

Erh, I'm quite sure I didn't have to pay anything when I signed up less than a year ago. BUT, you do get EUR 40 worth of vouchers...

A-club has been free from the start. What they might mean is their Favourite Guest programme which offers paid for perks. Totally confusing advertisement which I think is due to some French English translation problems.

Unfortunately not.

The Favourite Guest Program still retails at EUR 270 for a year (ok reduced to EUR 220 for a limited time only).

Being poor translation or not, it doesn't even come close to being Free

The promotion is only starting next week on 10 September. We shall see what this means:confused:

The promotion is that if you sign up at the moment, you get 2000 points on signing up, which may be redeemed for a 40 Euro voucher.

This is what is meant by sign up for free and earn a 40 Euro voucher.

If you can get the right advert to come up on the a-club homepage it says

Join the A|Club program for free before 30/09/09
and earn 40 Euro in A|Club rewards gift vouchers.

The way they reward them is to deposit 2,000 points in your account, which you will then need to redeem.

checked the voucher is either in Euro or USD. can this be used anywhere else, like, Australia or China? How would they convert the voucher then?

They just convert them into local currency at check out. It is the same as if you were to pay in € or US$ in cash.

As an A|Club member, you can use A|Club rewards vouchers to pay for all or part of your stay at over 2,000 Sofitel, Pullman, MGallery, Novotel, Mercure, Suitehotel, all seasons, ibis and Accor Thalassa locations. Anytime. No advance booking required, no black-out date, no restriction.
