I've been with Avis for many years, but am thinking of switching. I rent about 20-30 times a year, many weekends and around 4 days. Any reasons why I should switch to National?

Because this National forum is far superior to the Avis forum? :)

Best part about National; double dipping on promotions, and choosing your own cars. I love the last part; walking up and down the aisles, caressing the car hoods, oh wait.. If you rent many weekends, then you'll do well on their current weekend-renting promotion.

Additionally, will you be renting from one specific location (whereby you can check the index location to see which cars you'll most likely get) or several different locations?

And welcome, Jabez of 1st Chronicles?

Hertz and National are the programs of my choice. While I find the cars at Hertz tend to be nicer than the ones at National; the ability to select the exact car I rent (all mid-sizes are not the same, after all) makes me biased towards National.

Choice of car is the only reason I choose National. Problem is, that a mid-size car can and often is anything from a Sentra to a Lumina. Big difference there. At least with the Emerald Aisle you get to choose which one you want. well, you used to. Now it seems they have such a poor selection at many locations you really don't have that choice anymore...
