Las Vegas - Las Vegas Pool "scenes"

I found some threads about pools in general but not so much about the more "sceney" pools.

For my upcoming Labor Day weekend trip, I have scheduled the following: Friday - Go Pool at Flamingo (just because I'm staying there and it's new - expectations are low). Saturday - Tao Beach; Sunday - Rehab at Hard Rock; Monday - Moorea at Mandalay Bay.

I have previously been to Bare Pool at Mirage and the pool at the Palms and realize I still need to check out Wet Republic at MGM and the Wynn pools.

So - a) am I missing anything else from the "scene"? and b) How should I be dressing at a scene like Tao Beach or Rehab? I'm never sure if I should be dressed to swim or dressed like I'm hitting a club :)

I wear very dark sunglasses at Hard Rock so I don't get caught staring too much. Of course the drool gives me away....

For Rehab, the must-have accessories are ripped abs, tats, and a faux-hawk. I don't think anyone actually "swims", rather they simply lounge in the pool. There's a website for Rehab with plenty of pictures: http://www.rehablv.com/

It's too bad you missed the scene at the Rio. They had a partnership with a strip club where they paid the dancers to hang out at the pool. Imagine their shock - Shock! - to discover that prostitution was occurring at the pool.

I have never seen a LV pool that did NOT have hookers hustling their very obvious wares.

Just look for the pretty young girl sitting by herself that is always "looking" around.....strike up a conversation, ask her what she does and why she is here. If you get something along the lines of "I don't work your regular 9 - 5"....Bingo!!! and...well from there you are on your own :cool:! At least that is how I'm told it works:p

I've had some gorgeous high-end hookers approach me by putting $20 or $100 in the next machine & gambling. :-)

On the other hand, I saw four people (2 women & 2 men) sitting for hours on these four machines. They each had between $0.01-0.99 in their machines and were playing veeeery slowly. Lots of free booze!

On my cousin's 21st birthday, we hit a bunch of casinos on a booze run...only played long enough to get a round of free drinks.

i was at MGM which has Wet Republic. While I am not one at all to get into the "pool scene" or anything like that i do have some first had advice. MGM pools are the best ive come across. we got there at 10, got good spots at the lazy river, rented inner tubes and floated around and drank for most of the afternoon. ended up talking to a couple groups that were around us about Wet Republic. A group of girls had gone there the day before, ended up paying $75 each to get in and that only gets you in, nothing included. same prices for drinks over there as by the free pools. they said all there were around the pool were fake tits and muscle heads. i didnt pay anything to sit by the lazy river and i saw enough fake tits and bad plastic surgery for free of course along with some muscle heads. if you ask me, save the money for some drinks.

Hey all - so my official comparison included Tao Beach and Hard Rock's Rehab. I also checked out Moorea Beach at Mandalay but will write about that in a separate Mandalay Bay review since Moorea is intended only for local guests. It also isn't a direct comparison since Moorea is "European" while Tao Beach and Rehab are not.

Actually, significant others are great for holding onto winnings. Nothing worse than being up several hundred dollars when you are loaded and then subsequently giving back all your winnings the same evening. Wife = money tender for drunk husbands (or vice versa).

The midday temps get into the 70s, so you could get some swimming in. But by the end of October, weather can start to get a little fussy. So be prepared to do something else, just in case.
