Midwest Airlines Midwest Miles - Several interesting YX MCI developments

Southwest is suspending MCI-SEA between January and May 2010. This is a market they have flown non-stop for years. That will leave Midwest as the sole carrier on the route during this time and will no doubt help loads/yields during the slow winter months.

Also of interest is that Southwest recently increased MCI-SAN service as well. Are they trying to fortify the route in advance of some new competition???

Additionally, a turbo prop operator named Locair, is proposing to serve some markets from Cape Girardeau Regional Airport and elsewhere if it wins EAS bids. It's marketing director specifically mentioned MCI as an attractive destination because Midwest plans on expanding its operations at the airport. Here's a link:

If Locair's EAS bid are selected, I can definately see a codeshare/marketing alliance with Midwest/Frontier.

If you look at Locair's bid, it looks like they want to rebuild a regional hub in Kansas City.

It looks like they will fly to Omaha, Tulsa, Wichita, Cape Girardeau, Decatur, and Quincy.

Interesting mix of cities... I wonder how they'll match up to Southwest on the MCI-TUL route.
