I just booked the Claude Bernard Hotel in the Latin Quarter Paris through skoosh.com for 2 adults and a 11-year old child for 73 EUR incl. breakfast for the 3rd week of December.
The Claude Bernard has very good reviews on Tripadvisor.com (ranked in the 200's out of over 1900 Paris hotels) and the lowest rate for that time period, booking through the hotel's website is 120 EUR. There are other dates available during December.

I will even pay less for a room at the Prince de Galles 2 weeks before your stay...I think it's a bit more than 60 Euro pn :D...thanks *W ;)

So will I, but that "mistake rate" at the Prince de Galles is probably a once in a lifetime opportunity. :)

That said, 73 Euros is a good price for a Parisian 3-star, but doesn't strike me as an EXCEPTIONAL price (at least when I convert it to US dollars!). Over the years, I've staye in many good Parisian 3-stars for well under $100. When you're talking 3-people, though, it's undoubtedly harder to find.

Via Priceline, I've stayed at the Le Meridien Etoile for $100 a night.

I don't think Euro 73,00 for a 3 star hotel in Paris is a very good deal. Once in a while I check the web site of the Accor Hotels. There are quite often better places for a lower price.

Anything more than Euro 50,00 for a night I wouldn't call a bargain.

Considering this is for a triple room, I think 73 Euros is a very good deal. Priceline rates cannot be compared, because those are doubles.
Just double-check you will get an extra bed for the child. Some hotels say something like "Child under 12 free, using existing bedding."

I stayed there last January for a school trip for 2 weeks. It is a excellent hotel and the breakfast was really good.

I've been trying to book a room that can sleep three people (2 adults, 1 tall 11-year old child that needs an extra bed) in Paris for the last couple of months and have done quite a bit of research ( i. e. Tripadvisor) on which hotels are good and inexpensive. For a three bed room incl. breakfast for three this is by far the best deal I've come across. I am sure there are a lot more double rooms for less available and Priceline can be cheaper, but I prefer to be able to cancel my booking as close to my arrival date as possible and Priceline's booking are, in my experience, non-refundable. Booking the Claude Bernard with skoosh. com gave me a 3 day CP and that's excellent for the price I am paying.

You got a great price. I need a hotel for Oct. 15-18, three nights. The internet rate at this hotel on their web site for a double bed for my dates is 148 eu. the skoosh rate is 168 eu. I don't want to spend more than 100 eu. I have 2 reservations through venere, one for 89 eu at the Royal Phare, a 2 star and one for 101 eu at the Au Royal Cardinal. I've got some time to find a last minute booking that's cheaper and can cancel these without a penalty.

My next best two other options for a inexpensive hotel in Paris with good Tripadvisor reviews are:
1. the Peletier Haussmann (Opera area, central too) booked through hrs.de at 81EUR per night, child -11 stays free, breakfast 4EUR / person

2. the Lux Hotel Picpus, 12th arrondisement, 59EUR for a double room, 64 for a triple, breakfast 8EUR per person and you'll have to take their breakfast, can't just book the room without it. http://www.parisluxhotel.com
Give them a try.
