I'll be in Melbourne on New Year's Eve with Mr flyingbee, and I realise that I need to do a little bit of planning now on where to eat and view the fireworks on NYE. I'm looking for some advice on where to eat and watch the fireworks that evening.
We will be staying at the Travelodge on Southbank. I'm not sure if our best bet is to book up with a restaurant in that area from where we can see the fireworks at midnight and spend the whole evening in the restaurant. Or, should we just book a meal somewhere and not worry about the firework views, and then join the party on the street to see the fireworks? I've not been to Melbourne for many years, so I am not familiar with the restaurants in the area.
Budget might play a part in this - I think that I don't want to pay more than AUS$100 per person. (is that reasonable?)
