Budget Travel - Cheapest way to get across Phoenix late at night?

What is it like? I will be going to a concert at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale and will need to get back to Scottsdale at around 11:30 p.m. Will I be stuck cabbing it... or should I just rent a car. P.S. Concert is on a Tuesday night in October... U2 (in case you were interested).
