dletts welcome to Flyertalk. It apears too that you are the first representative from Avis that has actively posted in the this forum under an official capacity and I commend someone who has come forward; finally from Avis. I may have missed some older posts, but we often comment on many aspects of the program and I for one have not seen any discussion from Avis on any of them.

It is unfortunate that my perception of Avis is to start with you immediately identifying yourself as the Director of Corporate Security and that this is the first official post by your group.

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/avis/943560-tupa005-free-day-3.html

The intent of this is not to scare you away from commenting on valid issues, but instead to have you try to make some sense into why you posted, and yet no one else does. I ask that you talk to someone on your team and help us understand why complaints go unanswered, and that we frequent travelers seem to have no real perception that things are better for us, the ones who generate revenue.

I do not advocate fraud of any kind, so let me be clear that I agree with any process that reduces the dilution of benefits for those in the various programs. However you either posted this as part of your own due diligence or were directed to do so by your superiors.

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/avis/978150-easiest-way-into-pc.html

Regardles of why you posted, I hope your post count does not stay with "2" and continues some decent dialogue with Avis for those of us that are trying to stick with your program. I would be happy to PM you my Wizard number for validity of my own rental frequency.

Personally, I am done with Avis as of the end of this year. I am moving my business to National as well as the 55 people that report to me. I have logged three complaints and all three went unanswered. Will National be any better? I don't know but I know that they were willing to work with me on setting my group up and at least talked and responded to me.

Again, I hope to see you post and add some good discussion on this forum, and I hope that you are only one of many more Avis employees willing to share and provide insight.

I agree with you PDXOutbound, except I left Avis last week after accruing 40 some rentals this year with Avis (and similar activity the previous 8 years). After 3 incidents in MCO, poor SEA CS, getting hosed with the tank never full, unusable free-day coupons (used to be good on nearly any rental) and AvisFirst upgrades occuring only about half the time, I've moved to Hertz which includes a much deeper corporate and affiliate discount program. If dletts is concerned with fraud, go down to MCO...they screwed up the paperwork (again) and tried to give me a zero charge rental for a 10 day stint (which I inisited to pay my reserved rate for). Good luck dletts...your company needs it as the Avis rental experience has flushed its way down the toilet the past 2 years. Go find your fraud. it will be easier with fewer customers.

Same issue prestonh for me on similar issues and I have shared them. Avis is so quiet with any responses, calls, written or elevated. And the same on this board, nothing.

At least with my other loyalty programs, I hear back. It may not be what I want to hear, but I hear back. Avis: Nothing. So dletts are you going to prove me wrong? Doubt it.

I did get a response after I gave a bad review on one of their surveys. They asked me to clarify my complaints, I did and their followup was a form email.
Hertz just costs too much (if you use Avis discount codes) and I've never found the others all that much better. The emphasis for these firms have always been corporate and not frequent user, so the benefits of staying with one is usually minor. Especially since most Avis locations won't upgrade to luxury from preimium if select, or whatever they call us now.

I've left Avis also. I'm using my last free Avis First weekend coupon this weekend, and then I'm done. PDX, where I rent every few weeks, has told me that they no longer honor free upgrades for Avis First. Not only was I not getting upgrades, but I was getting real smoky clunkers with mechanical problems and lots of miles. Then Avis went and blocked out most of the summer for the First weekend coupons. That was it for me -- I've now tried out Hertz and Budget at PDX and got newer, nicer cars with better rates.

If I do rent from Avis, it'll be because they're cheapest, not because I'm in any way loyal or get any benefit from being Avis First.

Budget and Avis share a fleet....in locations like SFO(also RIC) they share the same exact desk...

From 2005 through 2007, I rented from Avis 46 weeks a year. In 2008, I rented from them 15 times. In 2009, it is ZERO. Too much competition to consistently screw up week after week....

While I have better luck with Avis than most other posters, I reflect on their customer service initiative and am forced to draw one conclusion:

Avis 2009 = United Airlines 2006-2008
Cut benefits + cut customer service = loss of focus and loss of customers

I would concur. If I copied and pasted every post that commented on someone in the last eight months who has left Avis, I bet someone could legitimately come on here and count up the dollars.

Again I hope someone from Avis' loyalty program would come on here in earnest and talk to us. I'm laughing since I can totally see this thread go OT and become a "I have left Avis 'cause Avis left me" thread. LOL

Still nothing back from the MCO station manager for Avis from my last debacle there. I'm on my 3rd rental from Hertz in the last 3 weeks. Several things happened that I NEVER had from Avis: When leaving the lot, the guy asked if I was certain my car was full of fuel (my jaw nearly dropped), I got a 12% credit on my rental when I complained on return that the gas tank was not topped off (the needle dropped as I'm pulling off the lot). And, I'm paying the same rate with applicable business discounts. So far, my CS and value experience is much better on the other side...

I've always been asked by Avis when leaving if the tank was full.....

I assume you're being sarcastic? I've *NEVER* heard this from an Avis employee.

I was two weeks ago at ABQ. It was between 7/8 and 8/8. It wasnt an AVIS employee, but a common security guard at their rental center. He made some scribbles on the preferred card, gave me my half and I drove away.

Come to return the car, though, and no adjustments had been made to the rental. Starting Tank still read 8/8. It wasnt worth my time to argue over. It probably equated to less than $5.00 worth of gas.

I am asked every time at the stations I use, only time I can think I wasn't asked was at SFO and her query was simply 'is everything ok?' I use FLL multiple times a month, they know me well there now, make sure I am happy.

Ahh, repeated station use will probably do it. When I was at SFO this week, the guy never said anything to me besides "hi" and "good" when I asked how he was. I'm rarely in the same place more than a few times a year, so they tend not to remember me (except maybe MDT where Joan is great to me). A lot of times I'm in small locations where you get the keys inside before going to the lot (no Preferred booth), so they don't have the chance to ask me.

If you ever use GRK, it is nice, they have no booth but if you are PClub or Chairmens they will have the car freshly washed, filled, and waiting for you curbside. Right outside the baggage claim door ;)
