Hi -- new member here, so excuse the possibly dumb question:

If I book on, say, Orbitz (or Cheaptickets) a flight like this:

ATL - ZRH DL66
ZRH - PMI Air Berlin 9748

and the Delta flight is late, causing me to miss the connection, what is my status? Do I risk not getting on a later Air Berlin flight to Palma, or being charged a change of schedule fee?

If it's in a single reservation -- a single itinerary number -- yes, they will accommodate you if there's a misconnection.

I would say a "qualified" yes that they will try to accommodate you. Even being on one ticket doesn't necessarily mean that Air Berlin will in fact be of great assistance. You can have one reservation/itinerary and one ticket but the fare calculations can still be totally separate. So if you miss the connection, Air Berlin could say, "You missed your flight, you need to buy a new ticket as per the fare rules" if it is a discounted/restricted ticket.

I would allow plenty of time between the connections just in case. Air Berlin is not known for its great customer service. But being polite and asking for supervisors can often help.
