I'll be staying in Barcelona for 5 days and was wondering if I should rent a car or not if so where can I find good rates for car rental. Looks like everything is $70+ with Orbitz.

Most of all, you don't need a car. It is a negative. Take the bus and subway or taxis. Much more convenient. MileageAddict Aug 30, 09, 8:44 pm No rental car needed. My wife, child and I just returned from a trip to Barcelona. From the airport, the train into the city is very easy. The subway is simple, safe and convenient. All of the sights you will want to see in Barcelona are readily available by subway or bus. If you want to explore a little farther, train service is great. We took a day trip by train to Figueres, Spain to visit the Salvador Dali Museum. alanw Sep 6, 09, 1:21 pm You really don't need a car. It's a needless expense and public transport is cheap and safe, and will get you wherever you need to go. I managed for two years here without a car. newgroundhogbrit Sep 7, 09, 7:25 am No car required in Barcelona - I have been there a number of times with my family (3 kids now 9,13, & 15 but at their yougest were 5,9,&11) and the metro & bus system is excellent. And even the taxis are not too pricey as a higher cost option.Last time we stayed in Sitges south of the city and still did not rent a car. You don't mention the age of your children but mine were very well received by the Catalans who, as in most of Spain, are very indulgent to young children. My kids loved it, particularly the pet stalls in the Ramblas! |
