Now the car thumbnails corresponding to each class size are more accurate and indicative of the actual type of car you'll probably find on the aisle.

True, but it's a good first step. :) newfbc Aug 26, 09, 11:20 pm They're identical to the ones on Enterprise's site. Ron. Tuneman1984 Aug 27, 09, 4:03 am It seems the re-classifications are now proof of class creep being one of the new "benefits" to the ERAC takeover, but I do applaud them loudly for at least giving it a much needed update so we all know what to expect. I mean, how long was the Monte Carlo going to stay on as a Standard? :p I also recall reading the review of the new Buick Lacrosse/Allure and the first thought that ran through my mind was "National's gonna call this a Premium car now..." :D Either way I hope they order some as it looks nice! drzoidberg Aug 27, 09, 7:52 am It seems the re-classifications are now proof of class creep being one of the new "benefits" to the ERAC takeover, but I do applaud them loudly for at least giving it a much needed update so we all know what to expect. Yeah, I hope they get the new 2010 Lacrosse and Ford Tauruses. I recall Paminaz (where is she anyway?) said the new Taurus would be coming in as a Premium vehicle. rentalguy Aug 27, 09, 11:23 am Yeah, I hope they get the new 2010 Lacrosse and Ford Tauruses. I recall Paminaz (where is she anyway?) said the new Taurus would be coming in as a Premium vehicle. Taurus will be coming in. As far as the Lacrosse (its branded the Allure in Canada) most likely will be available in the U.S but we will not be carrying it in Canada as there is currently no new GM deal. 3Cforme Aug 27, 09, 12:02 pm Yeah, I hope they get the new 2010 Lacrosse and Ford Tauruses. GM is planning a decontented (stripped, to the rest of us) 4-cylinder LaCrosse later this year that will have 'fleet' written all over it. I'm not confusing this with the reincarnated Regal to be introduced later, from the same platform and 4-cyl only. noirpepper Aug 27, 09, 12:20 pm I just can't get enough of the Maxima :) Finally national updated the pictures. Hoping Paminaz will return oneday to contribute to this forum. drzoidberg Aug 27, 09, 12:57 pm GM is planning a decontented (stripped, to the rest of us) 4-cylinder LaCrosse later this year that will have 'fleet' written all over it. Well, we can hope they might leave some of the CXSes on Premium at least. peteropny Aug 27, 09, 6:56 pm I noticed this last night too - and I find it's a mixed bag - the bad Pontiac G5 (basically rebadged Chevy Cobalt) as Mid-size - the good Malibu is now the Standard Size (acknowledgement that it's not quite Full Size). drzoidberg Aug 27, 09, 7:52 pm Taurus will be coming in. Hi rentalguy, Any possibility of the Taurus SHOs making it to the fleet? :) newfbc Aug 27, 09, 8:48 pm I noticed this last night too - and I find it's a mixed bag - the bad Pontiac G5 (basically rebadged Chevy Cobalt) as Mid-size - the good Malibu is now the Standard Size (acknowledgement that it's not quite Full Size). In Canada, mid-size is Dodge Caliber, standard is Ford Fusion. Ron. Tuneman1984 Aug 28, 09, 5:33 am In Canada, mid-size is Dodge Caliber, standard is Ford Fusion. Ron. I've seen Calibers on the midsize rows in YVR and YYC for a while now. I'm glad they've at least made the website catch up to reality. Hey gang...I'm Baaack. We missed you! I suspected it was due to new management regulations re: online postings. So everything is hunky-dory now? So who found out you were posting here, and I take it National actively monitors this board? I'm not Carnack the Great...I'm not a manager and never said I was...I've just been doing this a Long time and try to help or clarify when I can. It's never been nor probably will be a perfect system in Car Rental...no matter who it's for. Software in it's enormity as it is written by mulitiple individuals will have it's glitches and nuances as daily upgrades are written. Especially as it is written with bridges to interact with other software programs by other companies. It's a hiccup waiting to happen. We all just have to learn to Play nice at the Sandbox and Roll with the Hiccups as they come along. Hiccups get out of hand when those coming to the Sandbox get Sand in their diaper and get a little too Cranky and forget what we're all dealing with here. drzoidberg Aug 29, 09, 3:14 pm ...message from the higher-ups...if anyone participate on any blogs, forums, etc...please refrain from any postings until the policy structure can be established. Yes, I see the big red disclaimer in your signature. :) So do you know if National will be purchasing any 2010 Taurus SHO models in the future? Perhaps for their luxury aisle? Paminaz Aug 29, 09, 4:37 pm Not heard exactly about fleet yet. Since we aren't a licensee anymore I don't know about our fleet purchases for PHX. It's the big Group buy and we get our share of things. I believe though if we get any of the SHO's...they will be a Premium specialty. I don't think they will drop into the Lux class. I have the new vehicle class spreadsheet. The SHO isn't listed, but that doesn't mean there won't be any. As for the RED disclaimer...disclaimer had to be there...I chose to make it "large and in charge" on my own. Paminaz Aug 29, 09, 4:54 pm Welcome Back Pam!!! :) Good to be Back....Missed you all! But at the same time you shouldn't disclose company secrets either. Some ppl have to be told. noirpepper Aug 29, 09, 10:57 pm Welcome back Pam! It's good to have you back. :) drzoidberg Aug 30, 09, 1:44 pm The new icons define the Chevy Malibu as a "standard" size car. I guess that answers our ongoing argument over whether hte Malibu is a true full-size car and belongs in the ES aisle. Tuneman1984 Aug 31, 09, 6:17 am Welcome back Pam! You have been missed... The new icons define the Chevy Malibu as a "standard" size car. I guess that answers our ongoing argument over whether hte Malibu is a true full-size car and belongs in the ES aisle. i'm wondering what they're going to do about that one. In Canada at least I have yet to see a "Standard" class in any ER row. So what happens if we see Malibus/Fusions parked in fullsize stalls or on the ES? Do we say we're being downgraded and take something higher? I'm also wondering how the other "pseudo-fullsize" cars like the Sonata will be categorized. ElmhurstNick Aug 31, 09, 5:17 pm The new icons define the Chevy Malibu as a "standard" size car. I guess that answers our ongoing argument over whether hte Malibu is a true full-size car and belongs in the ES aisle. But it also means that the ES benefit of paying "one class less" is basically gone, since the Standards are going to be somewhere in price between the Midsize and the Fullsize - my guess is that the "savings" will now be $1/day or less in most cases. drzoidberg Aug 31, 09, 7:22 pm But it also means that the ES benefit of paying "one class less" is basically gone, since the Standards are going to be somewhere in price between the Midsize and the Fullsize - my guess is that the "savings" will now be $1/day or less in most cases. Well, as long as they don't stuff the ES with PT Cruisers, HHRs, or Rondos, I'll be ok with it. I actually like driving the Malibus/Fusions, but I suppose it's the principle of the matter. peteropny Aug 31, 09, 8:57 pm But it also means that the ES benefit of paying "one class less" is basically gone, since the Standards are going to be somewhere in price between the Midsize and the Fullsize - my guess is that the "savings" will now be $1/day or less in most cases. I'm beginning to think about booking Premium so that I can assure myself of a decent car - since I should be paying FullSize anyways. drzoidberg Aug 31, 09, 9:23 pm I'm beginning to think about booking Premium so that I can assure myself of a decent car - since I should be paying FullSize anyways. Careful, they might spring a "premium" Grand Marquis on you. :) Tuneman1984 Sep 2, 09, 5:25 am I'm beginning to think about booking Premium so that I can assure myself of a decent car - since I should be paying FullSize anyways. I'm planning to do the same...at least where I have the luxury of doing so...unlike Toronto which stocks a full complement of premium and higher cars but only allows bookings up to fullsize so they can charge $30 per day more instead of allowing us loyal Executive members to "cheat" with our free upgrade benefit. drzoidberg Sep 2, 09, 7:02 am I'm planning to do the same...at least where I have the luxury of doing so...unlike Toronto which stocks a full complement of premium and higher cars but only allows bookings up to fullsize so they can charge $30 per day more instead of allowing us loyal Executive members to "cheat" with our free upgrade benefit. That's terrible; does corporate know about that, or do they just turn a blind eye towards that type of practice? Tuneman1984 Sep 2, 09, 7:24 am That's terrible; does corporate know about that, or do they just turn a blind eye towards that type of practice? I'm not sure to be honest. Even if someone did catch them with the hand in the cookie jar they'd probably just try to blame it on something else, like availibility. When I was there exchanging my Impala with bald front tires I was told they "ran out of parking" for premium cars so they wound up in fullsize stalls, meaning there was only one "real" choice (a Sonata of course) of fullsize. I'm sorry but if you're RUNNING OUT OF PARKING one should think you have excess inventory in that category. And what does the website say again about Emerald Reserve? Oh yes, pick ANY car from the row of class RESERVED. Not, "pick any car as long as its what the counter agent feels you should have". |
