I apologize for asking this question because, no doubt it has been asked and answered a hundred times, but I have been through the EC rules and looked through the formums and can't find the answer to this question. Once I earn a "free rental day" what class of car may I redeem it for?

Any available!!! I got an Escalade and on the reservation it shows 3 days @$149/day, less coupon of 3 days @$149/day. I think my total for the rental was around $3.26 for fees that I couldn't get out of.

Only Executive Elites can choose any available car for their free rental days. I think Executives can go up to Premium and base members can go up to Full. I'm trying to find confirmation somewhere, but I don't see it.

Exec. can get up to full and base get up to midsize.

Here it is (to find this, log into your acct. and then click emerald club and then "click here to see a description of each level":

Emerald Club

7 Rental Credits = 1 Free Day Certificate
(up to Midsize car, based on availability)

Emerald Club Executive

6 Rental Credits = 1 Free Day Certificate
(up to Fullsize car, based on availability)

Emerald Club Executive Elite

5 Rental Credits = 1 Free Day Certificate
(any car type based on availability)

Is this a new rule? I redeemed 2 free days at LGA for a luxury car in 2007. I also redeemed 1 free day for an MSP-MCI one-way van in 2007. I was a regular Emerald member then. I'm an Exec now.

I'm sitting on a couple of free days now...holding them for my next van or one-way rental. I hope they still apply...

Do some test bookings and see. That's the only way to really know for sure.

I did some test bookings before my post above. I was able to do a Premium at a price that looked "free". It was probably the same price as a Full or just a couple bucks more, though. I did try a Premium SUV and it was a couple hundred extra.

I'll hit Executive Elite in October, so I'm looking forward to being able to redeem free days for ANY car! They're already an incredible deal for one-ways, which come in handy from time to time.

Above full-size, there are now upgrade fees for me. (Exec)

The good news: Midsize SUV is still fair game, including for one-ways. No upgrade fees or mileage limits.
