I am planning a big party in Vegas for a special occasion, for about 7-8 people (mixed group, late 20s/early 30s). Would love to have a hotel suite that is special/unique and can fit all of us. While I'm not at the "money is no object" level, the budget can stretch pretty high given the right offering.
My first thought was the Real World Suite at the Palms, which supposedly can be booked by the public for about $10K/night (Friday/Saturday). I'm thinking that should fit about 8 people (especially if we include couches), and it will certainly be a unique experience.
Anyone ever stayed at the Real World suite, been inside, or knew someone who has? I've searched high and low for "real world" (pardon the pun) reviews of the actual suite, but to no avail. Would appreciate any pointers, as well as other recommendations.
I've seen other reviews of the other "fantasy" suites at Palms on FT, and they have not been good. Just trying to do some homework before dropping $20K on a hotel room!
As background: I'm a Vegas regular, but never stayed in any "famous" suites. Would normally just book 3-4 connecting rooms at the Venetian and called it a day, but tempted to get something more unique. Used to get comped at Caesars and Venetian, but my play has fallen to the point where I only get midweek offers, so I'm certainly not getting access to any whale suites.

It is the same as it was on TV. Very spacious - we had 100+ people in the room at once for our party. I also had some fun in the jacuzzi. It's a great suite and a unique experience. I definitely recommend it!

Alternative could be Four Seasons 180-Degree Strip-View Suite (http://www.fourseasons.com/lasvegas/guest_rooms_and_suites/180_degree_strip_view_suite.html). Of course less eye candy there compared to Palms ;).

The Palms Place Penthouse suites may work for your party as well -- large, private pool and terrace and views of the Strip.
For that kind of money, why not consider some of the larger suites at Caesars, like the Forum Tower Emperor's Suite -- at least your room and incidentals will give you reward and tier credits with Harrahs
Alternately, for that kind of money, you could get fantastic suites, with service to match, at Wynn, Encore, Bellagio, Mansion and SkyLofts at MGM Grand, and the Four Seasons.
Regardless, hope your party is a success and please do report back where you ultimately partied.

If you need a refresh on the layout/accomodations, there are several YouTube walkthrough videos. For example:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGeozR_AE50
This could be an excellent choice as it likely has enough sleeping space while still being awesome. A lot of what's been mentioned as alternatives would not work for you due to having only 1 bed. Other great accomodations that might fit all of you, like Encore's 3-br duplex apartment, are difficult to rent due to the focus on high rollers. I'm sure you guys would have a great time at the Palms.

Thanks for everyone's comments and suggestions!
I realize that for $10K, one could get multiple SkyLofts, or exclusive suites at the Mansion, with much better service. But...
- A lot of these suites may have lots of square footage, but it seems to me they mostly have only 1 or 2 king beds. Not useful for a large group. Real World seems somewhat unique in having a lot of what appear to be smaller (but more plentiful) beds. A good combination for a group that is mostly singles.
- We're a relatively young group, and I'm hoping for a pretty rowdy vibe. Butlers would not be useful. I think I would better enjoy the pampering of SkyLofts, Mansion, Four Seasons, etc. for my 40th or 50th birthday...
- There's nothing quite like the communal shower stalls. :) It'll be like running my own youth hostel.
- There's also nothing like saying you have the Real World Suite to convince the eye candy at Moon to come up for an afterparty... ^
Mrp: Can you tell me a bit about your party? I see you are local, which probably explains the 100 guests. Did you also have catering, DJ, etc.? How large is that jacuzzi? Feel free to PM if you prefer. (My group will of course be smaller since we are traveling from out of town. Then again, if my friends and I have great success, perhaps we will wind up with 100 newly found friends!)
I must say that I DO like the idea of a private pool, so I will also investigate Palms Place penthouses. How far removed is Palms Place, though? I haven't set foot in Palms in years...

Seen the Real World Suite. Like all the other Fantasy suites at the Palms, they're extremely overpriced and overrated. I get what you're saying about sleeping situations and not wanting intrusive butlers, but having a few parties under my belt, I can tell you that bedrooms on each side acting as a sound barrier and "Do Not Disturb" lights go a long way.
There's also nothing like saying you have the Real World Suite to convince the eye candy at Moon to come up for an afterparty... ^

- the one thing about mansion is the private (shared) pool. (in addition to room pool) not good for women, unless there happen to be single whales or celebs or something, but very nice.
- planet hollywood timeshare tower supposedly has 28 penthouses with shared rooftop pool. no idea if theyre putting those in hotel inventory or allowing short term rentals, and cant for the life of me find anyone to talk to about it. could try though. anyone have ideas/contacts?

Stayed at the Heff Suite at the Palms - IMHO prob worth $5-10K max, not anywhere near the $40K they claim - and that is only based on the amount of rooms, not sure why I want a hot jacuzzi outside in vegas.

Agreed (and that's why I've got one booked for myself in December ;)). I just wanted give the OP the sense of the immensely more decadent accommodations that could be had for the dough he's willing to spend. Also, with locale at the end of the tower, bedrooms acting as buffers, and walls covered in upholstered mohair, you could blast a canon in a duplex and nobody would notice.
By the way, did you actually find a video of a Bellagio villa on YouTube? I've found an ultra short one after searching high and low, but it's not even worth looking for and posting.

I "think" Lago Suites are now applicable for the $$$ for upgrade program for COMP rooms @ Palazzo. I was offered to a Venetian Renaissance once, as an upgrade, but it wasn't worth the $ (for me alone on a short solo trip), even at the much reduced rate. The event was officially of the 'corporate' type, but it quickly got out of hand with the blessings of the party organizers. Catering was of the Costco veggie tray variety, but if you need a referral for a very affordable private chef, let me know. Alcohol was purely self-service. There were over 100 people in attendance including party crashers from the bachelor party suite and basketball suites next door. As for the jacuzzi tub, it is not very big. It was cramped with 4 people in it.

The last YouTube clip was incredible. Love the idea of a suite with a private outdoor jacuzzi. Am dying to know where that was, or anything similar.
Will start making some phone calls this week and see what is available in terms of Bellagio Villas, Caesars, Palms, and Palms Place. Encore Duplex units seem amazing, although website indicates they are not available for the specific weekend I am looking for.
Hmm... except I'm not quite sure WHOM I should call. I've never called an 800 number to haggle over 4-5 figure hotel rooms before. If anyone has any specific contacts at hotels or any other suggestions (Amex Plat concierge? Although I've found them to be useless in the past), would appreciate any leads by post or PM.

The suite MumbaiFlyer posted is of a villa at Palazzo. If you listen closely, it sounds like the guy says it was $2000 per night. Maybe available to upgrade to, perhaps? You're not going to get that rate calling in. Venetian/Palazzo are pretty generous about tossing their best suites into the day-of upgrade pool, though.
It's got a lot of amenities, but absolutely no sense of consistency, harmony, or symmetry in its interior design. Compare to a Wynn Las Vegas Apartment Villa:

albeit, a riskier way to proceed,
If you can secure a ressie that's acceptable (as a backup) with a decent cancellation policy (i.e. 3-4 days), you might be able to negotiate a better deal 7-10 days out. Of course, this would have to assume the suite you were interested in negotiating for was available, on that short notice. Your $ leverage on these specialty suites will increase substantially (IMO), if they are looking like they might go empty.

Venetian/Palazzo are pretty generous about tossing their best suites into the day-of upgrade pool, though.
I did a 'bit' of research today, and it 'seems' that almost everything is 'fair game' @ Venetian/Palazzo with regard to upgrades from COMP rooms. Of course, it depends on availability, and the [advance] upgrade rate is consistent; so a Friday/Saturday night is probably a better deal.
For example, rates to upgrade a COMP room currently are :
as low as $50 for a Venetian Rialto upgrade,
Palazzo Lago 1Bedroom $600
Palazzo Lago 2Bedroom $900
Renaissance Venetian $600
Penthouse Venetian $2000
Of course, as I've noticed first hand, you can save 50% or more on the above upgrade rates if done on day of arrival. Though, they need to have the rooms available for upgrade. Reserving [the upgrade] in advance comes with the security of knowing what you'll get at check-in. Personally, I'd still opt for negotiating at check-in. ;)
