Online Travel Booking and Bidding Agencies - Hotwire -- number of beds

I'm thinking of reserving a hotwire stay for 2 rooms, with a total of 5 adults and one kid. Can I assume 2 beds in each one? I know that for Priceline, you're just guaranteed one, but I can't find any info about this on Hotwire's website. Since they ask in their booking section for the number of guests, you would think that they would provide the appropriate number of beds, but you never know.

Here's what Hotwire says on their website:

All rooms booked on Hotwire will accommodate the appropriate number of guests in each room, based on the total number of guests you provided and the number of rooms you requested. If you require a specific number of beds, please contact the hotel directly to make your request. While we cannot guarantee that your request will be accommodated, our hotel partners will do their best to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

In other words, no, you aren't guaranteed 2 beds, but you are guaranteed a sufficient amount of sleeping space for the number of people you book. So, if you book a room for 3 people, they can't just give you 1 double bed. They would have to give you something suitable for 3 people - i.e. 2 double beds, or a bed and a rollaway, or a bed and a foldout couch.

Although the hotel is obligated to provide the correct number of sleeping spaces, some people have reported getting to the hotel and being assigned a room with an insufficient number, perhaps because the hotel does not grasp the difference between booking a Hotwire room for 3 or 4, versus booking a Priceline room for 2. This, in fact, happened to me, although the hotel clerk happily accommodated me when I pointed it out.

I recommend contacting the hotel after booking such a room to ensure they understand that you have a contract for X people.

Definitely. All the times that I inquired of HW for more than 2 people, the cost was always more than for just 2 people. So if you are paying for 3 or 4 or X number of people, you should get the bedding for that number.

You might want to call them immediately after your booking, plus 24-48 hrs before arrival.
