Ya I did not read the fine print but I think it make bit more sense than their last attempt with Dragonair? For the HKID thing it is required by HK law as far as I know (when it is a lucky draw you apply a license and that HKID thing is one of the standard clause).

Good to know.. however I almost forgot where's the best way to do it as I have been flying exclusively on award since April :p^

I think their marketing department should simply put triple miles (or more) per ticket via cx.com to become more attractive for us

getting into a draw never lured me into using a specific product. i wonder whose smart idea is this... and an Y ticket to Sydney.. WHAT??? How much extra would a J ticket to Sydney cost them

The cynic in me says that the winners will be people who always travel in pairs - that way CX actually gets at least one ticket's worth of revenue for two seats.

This are all meaningless to me (besides the fact that I'm not qualify), but even if this is offered in the US the top 3 prizes are too restricted. I like the promotions that gives free miles as top prizes: like the good old 1 million mile prize Cathay gave a few years ago.

Two, too my knowledge, CX internet booking system doesn't connect with the system used by TA and MPC, which is a heavy disadvantage to FTers. Third, this grand prize is just crap, one economy ticket to SYD. It wouldn't kill you to have it one business ticket that is class restricted. CX need to learn in order for people to be willing to use the internet system, the connecticity between the two system needs heavy fixing. And maybe a better reward for using the internet booking, like 500 award miles.

Haha ditto, except I'm in HKG (as are some of the other critics here I think) and still think the promotion is crap. Round-trip Y ticket to SYD?!? Yippie. I'm pretty sure I just saw that advertised for $4k HKD in SCMP the other day.

Meaningless promotion even for HK residents. I attended a couple of events in which CX was one of the sponsors, and they gave out two tickets, not one.:confused:
