Budget Travel - Cheapest Seattle -> Cleveland tickets

I posted this in the Midwest forum too, but I think people here might have some ideas as well.

I'm looking for the cheapest tickets for Seattle -> Cleveland. What I'm particularly looking for are specific cheap routes that use Cleveland as a mid-way stopping point but not the final destination. I'll book that entire route, but just get off at Cleveland. I have only hand luggage.

This has worked a lot of times for me in the past. For example, to get to Washington DC, I booked a SeaTac -> Buffalo ticket for 100 bucks, with a stop-over at Washington DC, and just got off at DC. SeaTac -> Washington DC tickets were extremely expensive by comparison.

I want to replicate this strategy with Cleveland. Anybody have tips and route ideas?

I'm not that interested in getting off at some other airport and driving over...prefer to go to just Cleveland, but I'm open to those ideas as well if it's very significant savings. I've found flights with connections (where Cleveland is the final stop, and where I get there after 9 hours) for about $280-$300 round-trip, excluding red-eye flights. I do need to book a ticket back as well, but can book the tix separately.

Thanks!

Welcome to FlyerTalk!

But, per the TOS, please post in only one forum :)

I'll move this from "USA/The West" forum to Budget Travel for you.

This strategy only works for one-way tickets. If you do this on a round trip ticket and get off before your outbound flight is complete, the return portion of your ticket will be cancelled. It's also not a good idea to make this a habit with the same airline since it violates the terms and conditions of your ticket. Finally, the airline has no obligation to get you to your intermediary destination, just your final destination. In the case of irregular operations, you may find yourself stuck somewhere you don't want to be.

Not sure if this helps but on the Mileage Run Forum, they have a cheap Columbus, Ohio fare posted.
