Hawaii-based Airlines - AA codeshare on HA metal ITO-HNL-DFW

I just booked ITO-HNL-DFW on AA.com (in Y:() for only $12 more than HNL-DFW. Of course, the interisland segments are shown as codeshares on HA metal. This sort of savings never happened before because I always have to book this trip on exact dates and it has always been much cheaper to book the ITO-HNL segments separately. AA is telling me to check in with HA for the codeshare. I am assuming that I will need to do OLCI on both airline websites within the 24 hour time frame. Anybody else done this?

Having never managed to get any of those $1 or $9.99 fare specials that have turned up in the past, this will be the cheapest interisland flight I have ever made. Too bad it's onto the less than stellar AA coach experience. Oh well, times are hard.

No experience starting on HA, but when flying AA DFW-OGG then AA operated by HA OGG-HNL, AA.com issued me boarding passes for both flights.

Another perhaps relevant data point, earlier this year when flying on a US Airways purchased itin that had an HA codeshare segment as the first segment, I checked in in person at HNL and HA was able to give me all boarding passes.

I did have to chase down the mileage credit later, though, because it didn't properly credit to bmi (which was the FF # in the US segments)
