Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Advice on 747 Emergency Exit Row Seat in Y

Flying Y next week on 883 LAX-HKG and am trying to figure out the better emergency exit row seat: 44A or 44B. Aisles are already taken. Have searched all threads, but still not sure which to take. Have heard the emergency slide protrudes big time into 44A, likely making it pretty uncomfortable (I'm 6'1"). Upside is that you have the window/wall to lean against to try & sleep, albeit by angling your legs around the slide bubble.

My AA Plat / OW Sapphire status allowed me to select 44B for unlimited legroom, but I don't relish the thought of being in the middle seat for 14+ hrs, without anything to lean against for sleeping.

I guess it all comes down to a tradeoff, but any advice & recommendations would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Being 6"1 will be a problem with 44A. I'm 5"8 and I feel cramped due to the bulk of the door. You can hope that they will block off 44B but that's highly unlikely.

go with 44b, bring a full backpack and use it as a foot rest plus it will be colder in 44a

I concur with 44B. Remember that the head rest has wraparound "wings" which you can adjust to keep you head upright.
