It seems that Jetblue has given one of their two gates at Burbank to Southwest. They now only use gate 8.

Does anyone have any info regarding Jetblue's long term plans at BUR? It seemed that their plans for growth at BUR are now in reverse.

I understand that they have cut capacity because BUR-JFK is their only popular route out of BUR. They have tried but cancelled service from BUR to SLC, Orlando and IAD. They still have 1 flight a day to Las Vegas but face stiff competition at BUR from Southwest. But even the JFK flight was reduced to just 3 flights a day.

I find BUR a better airport than LGB.

Will Jetblue be adding service out of LAX to other cities besides JFK and BOS?

Thanks

I believe they still are using A8 and A9. A7 has always been a Southwest gate. However, to my knowledge, it is rarely used.

I do wish they would expand out of Burbank. I was surprised to find BUR - MCO wasn't successfully with Disney being right around the corner. Perhaps BUR-OAK would be better due to the connecting opportunities that offers, especially if OAK is expanded.

I thought the MCO-BUR service was great, I really wish they would bring it back. It sure beats MCO-LAX via DL or UA for most of my So Cal needs.

Recently Southwest started using A9 with flights to Vegas. Jetblue only has 3 daily flights to JFK and 1 to Las Vegas. So they really only need 1 gate now.

Really? I wonder why - they have plenty of gate space in the rest of the terminal. I was there earlier today - I wish I had seen your post earlier so I could have checked it out for myself (though we pulled in to A1 so I don't know if I would have wanted to trek all the way down and back ;) ). I'm flying to JFK on Tuesday so I'll be sure to see if I can find out any more info.

I've seen both A8 and A9 being used by JetBlue at the same time (I believe it was a delayed JFK flight and a LAS flight together) so there was at least a little use for having 2 gates.

I have seen them use both gates before too. Sometimes for the same flight. Gate 8 for the front and Gate 9 for the rear. But with the reduced flight schedule, looks like Southwest took the gate. I guess Jetblue didn't want to pay for a gate that was going to be empty.

Did JetBlue actually give up the gate or are they just subletting it to WN?

I was at Burbank today and JetBlue still is using both A8 and A9. A7, which formerly had Southwest gear, seems to have been disassembled. Below is a picture of the gate area (sorry for the quality, but I tried to snap it with my iPhone as I was boarding). We were boarding through A8 for a 11:38 am departure, A9 had info up for a 7am departure to JFK.

Is it possible that they are sharing the gate with Southwest. I have observed Southwest using the gate at night. My observations have taken place around 9pm. Maybe Jetblue uses it during the day and Southwest at night? Strange.
